Injury Update

Post: # 2046956Post Sainter_Dad »

Jack Sinclair, Dan Butler and Liam Stocker will face fitness tests at main training this morning, while Matty Allison is set for a stretch on the sidelines.

Hhhmmm - Laura Kane - why is Liam Stocker facing a test??

All three seemed to be training quite freely. What’s wrong with Allison?

I read on here that Matthew Allison might not make it as an AFL player but he doesn't have much luck either.

Looks like Allison is cooked. I think smoked and charred.

We still have a fair side in so it’s a good indication that we do have depth
Due to the fact of the large amount of injuries we have

Yes but we are barely covering all our needs now.

Just as well Windy stepped up as a mid against the Pies, otherwise that "depth" would have be really tested. Plus Windy displayed a bit of burst pace which Steele, Ross and Crouch do not have.

Jones just returned just in time to assist with that depth. Plus Byrnes has fortunately been in good form.

Hopefully this week Sincs will be better for the run. Ditto for Butler who like Sincs missed all the preseason match work and who I suspect will now come in for Henry.

Dow and Hayes both listed as 1/2 games away. At our current attrition rate we are going to need them.

Mason Wood's injury...

RTB says we're the 2nd youngest team in Rd2...
It's amazing how strong the guys were from that point onwards.
5 goals to one in the 3rd.
They didn't lose focus and seemed to be mentally tougher than the Filth. Pressure ramped up, even knowing a team-mate was injured.
That's mental toughness across the board.

I think last year and last week proved that our depth is better than our best 22.

Unfortunately not, just compared to the initial expected times out.

Paton is a huge bonus and has gained a good 8 weeks.

Max King, Hunter Clark and Mason Wood could all be available for selection this week, only requiring the green light following fitness tests at main training on Thursday.

In further pleasing news, Liam Henry is anticipated to enter the frame next week following a hamstring injury acquired in Round 2.

Max Heath is also available after graduating concussion protocols.

I heard a rumour that Marshall and Steele are a bit sore and may be rested this week.

I'll watch them when i go to training this week. If they do the full training session and take part
in the drills and match sims then it's hard to know if they are sore, or how sore they might be and how it might affect
them on game day.

I've noticed that players might look sore at training and it's obvious, yet when they play on game day they don't
show soreness like they did at training. Maybe they are told not to telegraph it to the opposition or maybe they are
a bit numb from pre-game treatment.

I don't have any inside info so it's all guesswork.

How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?

Both Steele and Marshall trained in front of medical staff yesterday. Steele ran laps with no strapping on his knee and Marshall did short stuff. Neither seemed to be hampered. We will have a fair idea tomorrow at the main training session.

Only 6 players selected for neither seniors nor Sandy - Butler , Higgins, Crouch, Van Es, Henry and Hotton. Cordy named as emergency for seniors but also listed as being rested and not named for Sandy so looks like he will be rested.
All bar Hotton are on our published injury list . Not sure what the story is with him.
