Re: Match thread. Saints V Bombers
Has Bonner done anything in his 3 games so far?? All I can recall are mistakes and clangers.

Membrey has got to stop trying to bring the ball to ground and try to mark it

Shockingly low standard game, not many positives at all.
Pou getting a bit more involved is all I can think of.

Do Essendon supporters understand the HTB rule?

I was coming onto here to post that it looks like Bonner has lost some confidence after his mistakes last week, but wasn't expecting knives out like this!

At game. Up by 11 but arguably should be up by more. Typical saints score line 6. 8. All in all playing well, moving it easily out of our 50 for the most part but not great entries into theirs.
We should prevail and I am look it forward to hastie debuting probably in the last quarter

They also don’t understand the “almost taking your opponent’s head off” rule.

2.5 from very gettable set shots.
Cooper Sharman usually a dead shot but has missed 2.

Sharman was missing last week too. I don’t know what’s going on with him. He’s usually a dead eyeBruce G McAbee wrote: ↑Sat 30 Mar 2024 5:33pm 2.5 from very gettable set shots.

Re: Match thread. Saints V Bombers
Essendon have been far worse than I expected, apart from, unfortunately, when they are on the attack. Meanwhile, with the honourable exception of Higgins, our forward line has been disappointing.
I agree Phillipou has been really good: it's his best game for a long while. If he keeps it up, then it might be his breakout performance.
Wilkie and Battle have been absolutely wonderful: without them, we'd be behind. And Ross, Steele and Marshall are all good as always.
As I posted last week, it's easy to see why Bonner got delisted at the end of last season. He's not a reliable defender, and I'm not sure he could be played anywhere else.
Ryan Byrnes: what can I say? His workrate and attack on the ball are wonderful, but when he gets the ball it might just as well be in the hands of our opponents for all the good he is going to do with it.
Anyway, we're still in it, which is the main thing. If we stop missing gettable shots on goal, we're a better chance than I expected we'd be.

Re: Match thread. Saints V Bombers
What makes the 6.8 even worse is that I think 4 of the goals we did get were very flukey…

Re: Match thread. Saints V Bombers
Seeing you've brought Billings into it, I've been chuckling at the posters on the other thread who keep arguing that our list is better off without him on it. And then I watch Bonner and Byrnes running around and wonder what those posters are on and can I please have some.
