Re: Hastie
Slightly surprised to see him ahead of Garcia, who is a genuine mid as opposed to a HBF.
Not sure he adds to the rotations given we already have Stocker on the bench.
But always exciting to see some new talent.
He is bound to start as a Sub.

Re: Hastie
A bit different to the last time RL was coach.
We are certainly developing a lot more players - esp youth.
Hopefully even with the injuries and inexperience in the team we can make finals. That type of experience is priceless.

Re: Hastie
Apparently played on the wing in the VFL on the weekend (probably largely due to the fact we’d just lost Mason and Henry) and did well, so I think he’s probably the closest to a like-for-like swap with Wood.Banger9798 wrote: ↑Fri 29 Mar 2024 3:44pm Slightly surprised to see him ahead of Garcia, who is a genuine mid as opposed to a HBF.

Better suited to the wing than Schoey or Garcia and gives us more run-and-carry than either of them.

Re: Hastie
Besides being a nice kick, this kid can take a mark and has some wheels, not sure of his endurance but it doesn't matter. I think we are checking out who is hungry because they are all fairly talented. It also makes us attractive to young guys not getting a chance elsewhere.
I hope it's not just a hasty promotion of Hastie.

Hopefully he'll make the Injectors' midfield implode

Did FA
Not sure the point of subbing off Sharman
Not sure why you’d have a first gamer as Sub - pointless again
Wilson or Bonner should’ve been subbed

Re: Hastie
Having given Hastie a game they had to give him some game time.
But he was only in the team because 10 players were injured and 2 suspended meaning there were only a few left who were not playing.
Heath, Campbell, Keeler, Schoenmaker, Hotton, Garcia, Collard, O'Connell & McLennan

Who were the alternatives?
Massive injury list only Campbell with more than a games experience available

Re: Hastie
Hastie made space and was in the clear on several occasions in the last quarter and we refused to use him which resulted in turnovers.
I thought he did enough with the limited opportunity he got and he took a nice contested mark in the last play of the day.
Hopefully they give him a few games in a row to see how he goes.
Wilson was also burnt on several occasions as well, the commentators highlighted it a few times.

Re: Hastie
The continual burning of our players in open space with panicked kicks forward was as bad as I've seen. Yet again, I put that on the senior leaders not taking control of the situation. I think of guys like Pendlebury and Hodge in those situations and how they take control of the situation with direction and voice. We needed some out there willing to get hold of their team mates and get some uncontested marks going for five minutes. Felt like our leaders went missing again.saintbob wrote: ↑Sun 31 Mar 2024 6:50am Hastie made space and was in the clear on several occasions in the last quarter and we refused to use him which resulted in turnovers.

Re: Hastie
The kid didn’t look terribly out of place.
Give him another 12-24 months and I’m sure he will be holding down a permanent spot. I can see him taking Jimmy Websters position long term.
