Re: Team vs Bombers
Happy to see us continue to get games into the newbies. Thought Hastie did some nice things at times in the Sandy game, so best of luck to the lad!

Re: Team vs Bombers
Hastie will presumably be the sub. I wonder why not Garcia?

Re: Team vs Bombers
Hastie seemed to get a lot of the ball in today's match sim, maybe he was given a more prominent role in the sim because he was in the squad for the Essendon Edge game.
How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?
Re: Team vs Bombers
Hastie has got a bit more size to him than Garcia, which is probably what they want if he's coming in to replace Wood. As well as the fact that Hastie has played up on the wing where I'm not sure if Garcia is suited to the outside run, looks like more of a centre-bounce type inside mid.meher baba wrote: ↑Thu 28 Mar 2024 6:33pm Hastie will presumably be the sub. A guy on FB reckons Steele wasn't training with main group today- ran laps, then had some training with the Irish kid

My feelings for this game are so ecstatic
And why wouldn’t they be ?
We have an excellent side that are playing bloody good football under a really good coach. I feel sorry for some of our supporters who just don’t seem to have the same faith and or realisation that we are the real deal

Re: Team vs Bombers
I feel a bit iffy. King and Henry are huge outs… + Parish and Redman are good ins.
Steele’s ‘illness’ bothers me as well.
Historically Essendon’s ball winners and rucks cause us issues.
Conversely, one thing that’s really good about our squad is that it has match winners all over the place that could turn it on in a heart beat.
Any of Membrey, Higgins or Coops could get off the leash and kick 3
Hill, NWM and Bonner could provide all the electricity we need… and Owens could blow the game open for us or be a steady BOG from start to finish.
Marshall, Wilkie and Steele should all be fantastic whilst Sinclair should be a lot better for the run last week.
My gut says look out for Seb Ross…
I feel a lot better posting that

Re: Team vs Bombers
I'm with you.
In my recollection, Saturday arvo is rarely a good time for us: we're far better on a Friday night or a Sunday evening.
The Bombers seem to be more full of themselves than usual this year and, even though they went down to the Swans, I expect them to play with a lot of confidence (they'll get a reality check later in the season).. And, thanks to their very vocal supporters, they are likely to get a better deal than us out of the umps.
Meanwhile, we are ravaged with injuries. We'll have to get used to not having Henry or Wood for a bit, but losing King for this game was an unexpected twist that will definitely make Essendon's life much easier own back. And is Steele going to play? A good performance from him is absolutely essential.
Essendon are nothing special, so we are definitely in with a chance. But I'd see them as being slight favourites.

the Saints family has taught me That

we certainly won't be marching in anywhere
if the troops are whinged out
by the time we turn the corner for the straight up to the Big Show
coz we will have faltered on the way
... snatching defeat from the jaws of victory yet again
with our victim mentalities
can't see the point
cull em , bury em , say something nice about the jellybacks then move forward unencumbered by that head up own rectum behaviour

Re: Team vs Bombers
Nobody wants to see Essendon crushed more than I do. I want to see us wipe the smiles off the faces of Kyle Langford and Nick Martin: whom I find to be two of the most annoying players in the league (not quite Charlie Curnow standard, but not far behind). And I want to see the Bombers fans suffer.
RTB and Boris will have a good strategy for limiting their scoring opportunities. But can our midfield win enough of the ball to create sufficient scoring chances and can our forward line convert them in the absence of Max and with Butler a fair way off being match fit?
I reckon I'm allowed to be a little pessimistic this week.
