Firstly, what happened last year(s) is irrelevant, as stated the MRO can ignore their previous deliberations.

Secondly in assessing impact they can (particularly with head high) look at potential to cause injury. It’s all written down in this document

Therefore unfortunately Max gets a week and having read the document it will stay a week.

Anyway in all these discussions please stop talking about previous years, it is now 2024 new rules, new interpretations, the history is irrelevant

Still worth the fight though...
Fight the fights that are worth fighting.

The booklet says
Any high bump which constitutes Rough Conduct that has the potential
to cause injury will usually be graded at a minimum as Medium Impact,
even though the extent of the actual physical impact may be low.
I seriously doubt that contact had the potential to cause injury and that's what we should be arguing.
It should have been assessed as low from the start...and we'd accept a fine.

Both very fair points

I hope you are right

They were running parallel to each other, it's nothing like the incidents where there is speed on the contact.

Is it tonight?

2020 was an aberration, when we travelled twice to Adelaide and won both, beat Tigers early, beat our bogey Swans. 2021 we've returned to our old ways. Damn

Draper's intentional cannon charge into Lloyds back had the potential to cause injury yet it was assessed as being low impact and the velocity of the hit was a lot higher

I can't believe how bad our record is at the tribunal. For years I've been saying our lawyer is the guy out of The Castle.... I know he finally got a new photocopier but he's still useless !!!!! The vibe just doesn't work any more.

Another kick in the guts from a corrupt incompetent administration. No injury to the play an incident which really is so low on the scale it’s barely a free.

Oh no it’s StKilda bend over

He was lucky to get one. I just hope he doesn’t turn into a wannabe tough guy like Tom Lynch.

Didn’t we get Butler and Caminiti suspensions overturned within the last year or so?

I’m fine with this decision tbh as long as they’re consistent.

From tonight’s verdict:
“Guidelines provide any high bump which constitutes rough conduct that has the potential to cause injury will usually be graded at a minimum ‘medium’ impact, even though the extent of the actual physical impact may be low.”

If they’re going to contest that any head high contact with potential to cause injury (regardless of outcome) and is avoidable through player action is a suspendable offense then that’s fine in my books, but it has to be applied to everyone evenly, including cases where it would rule out star players from finals and Brownlow.
