Re: Max King 1 match suspension rough conduct
Yeah saw it when it happened live last night and thought it could be something, but when no one remonstrated with him and the commentators didn’t bring it up I thought must have been nothing.
King has a history of these silly little strikes that get him in trouble, needs to get it out of his game.
Appeal it, who knows what could happen?!

Have to appeal that. Elbow was tucked, no raised forearm like the AFL article state. Late bump, doesn't look like there was any head contact. Free kick, no more

Re: Max King 1 match suspension rough conduct
The AFL really need to out and say the compilation is based around a few clubs being successful. StKilda are merely there for someone to provide a contest.
If this suspension is upheld I doubt any StKilda supporter can ever believe in a fair comp.

Re: Max King 1 match suspension rough conduct
I doubt few believe that now.
Any pretence was lost to me when Barry Hall was judged to be “in play” and was free to play the following week after unprovokingly punching Maguire.
If I ever was to give up on the Saints… it would have little to do with losing faith in the club but rather just not wanting to bother with a competition that is so obviously rigged

Re: Max King 1 match suspension rough conduct
Surely, they will appeal this. If Sicily can get his 1match ban reduced to a fine, then I can’t see why Max can’t with this incredibly trivial incident.

It is all about the potential to cause injury to the head.Sainternist wrote: ↑Sat 23 Mar 2024 12:00pm Surely, they will appeal this. If Sicily can get his 1match ban reduced to a fine, then I can’t see why Max can’t with this incredibly trivial incident.

Re: Max King 1 match suspension rough conduct
So....2 mtr Peter has just taken out Harry Cunningham.
How many weeks?
Yes it was a contest but 1 guy going for the ball and the other guy only trying to stop Harry from marking it
Seems to me MORE worthy of suspension than what King did.
Harry was hit hard. Hard enough to be knocked out and suffer concussion. The immediate result is that the Swans are without that player for the rest of the match.
PLUS ...Peter has potentially triggered a brain injury that COULD have long lasting effects on Harry
How's this for logic from those people who think Wright had no other option
There's a ball in flight and Peter braces for a shoulder hit (*) to Cunningham's head. He didn't actually go for the ball at al!!
The slo mo replay shows he played the man. If you slow it down it's clear that Peter braced for contact without touching the footy.

Re: Max King 1 match suspension rough conduct
Having an ex Collingwood player make calls against teams that play Collingwood is big conflict of interest. Even if the guy was competent. How many weeks suspension in aggregate have we got already. Elliott smacked (I think) Stocker with a stiff arm to the head while he was defenceless on the ground. Not even a free. Frampton charged Higgins, any fine? It's arbitrary crap being served up.

Re: Max King 1 match suspension rough conduct
Once again the buffoon aka Michael Christian, has donned his one-eyed blindfold, and thrown a dart at his suspension board.
Must appeal this. No chance of getting more and a fair chance we can get it reduced to a fine.
And while we're at the tribunal, lobby the AFL to get rid of that pelican, Christian.

Re: Max King 1 match suspension rough conduct
Wright left the ground
He’s gone 4 at minimum
Only thing that saved him from more is he’s facing the ball unlike Webster

Re: Max King 1 match suspension rough conduct
Still left the ground
Still used his shoulder
Still knocked Cunningham out
If it is not 4 weeks - it is wrong

Re: Max King 1 match suspension rough conduct
The club ought to kick up a real stink about this behind the scenes if he gets off with a couple.
As far as I am concerned, the ground rules have been set and there must be consistency.
No special rules for special clubs and special players. Just consistency.

The problem is the MRP have stated that they don't accept precents.

Re: Max King 1 match suspension rough conduct
At least as bad as Webster's hit.
Knocked him out, so what if the ball was in the area....he wasn't going for it, and the Swans player was facing the other way.
Very interested to see how this is adjudicated

It's an illegal act. Front on. First thing is a free kick, then 4 weeks minimum should follow due to the impacts.Banger9798 wrote: ↑Sun 24 Mar 2024 8:37am At least as bad as Webster's hit.

Re: Max King 1 match suspension rough conduct
Wright: minimum 5 weeks, taking a line through Jimmy.
Wright is a huge man capable of causing a lot of damage in a clash like that. Duty of care? Stuff that.
It is now known that before the game the Essendon Coach incited hard physical contact. So there goes any naive benefit of the doubt.
"It is well known Peter is a ball player.." by who? At junior level his size would have made it unnecessary to do other than present. It also suggests he is not practiced in delivering bumps so when instructed to by the coach he delivered a crude, dangerous, illegal hit on a defenseless player, jumping off the ground. Very very lucky more serious damage was not done. He knew what he had done.
Be interesting if Brad's status as an AFL Executive alumni gets the incident downplayed and white washed. Which would be a mistake if Kane wants to build credibility.
At least 5.
