What a great event! Thanks TITH and SD.

My date and I arrived pretty much at the start of the event and headed to the far corner of the Olympic Room to snaffle a couch looking out onto the ground. We were soon joined by Saint Watto who posts on BigFooty and about 10 of his closest friends.

I'd also planned to meet up with True Believer who I'd dealt with a bit when I was running the sponsorship but have never met. And it was a pleasure to meet him and his brother in person. He really is a true believer.

There was no end of food and drink. I went Asian and had some spring rolls, prawn toast and my absolute favourite the old char siu bao. Free beer, wine and soft drinks. And when game time approached you could get them in plastic cups to take out.

There were a few well known heads in the room. Eric Bana, Mark Weber, Andrew Dillon, Razor Ray and some actor who does ads for a real estate website. Also some famous saints. Kosi, Stewie Loewe, one of the Wakelins, Paddy Ryder. I'm sure there were shorter ones too but they were the ones I could see over the top of the crowd.

Gil's brother Hamish (is he a Saints fan too?)was hosting and the speeches were mercifully brief. We heard from Jake Batchelor and Damiam Carroll. Chelsea Frawley, Danny's daughter was interviewed.

The seats were right out the front on level 2 and we had an excellent view.

Half time I believe there were party pies and sausage rolls but I made a beeline for the scones and jam and cream.

They were still serving after the game but I needed to get home and watch the replay.

All in all an excellent night and the footy was pretty good too.
