Gotta admire your commitment to the bit in mentioning the free kick count incessantly while Geelong had more and then completely ignoring it once we did.

Screw that sardine can of a ground.
Now, the AFL screws us again with only a 5 day break.

Byrnes probably our best player, Higgins, Owens, Crouch, Steele, Wood, Ross probably our worst

11-5 start including two clear marks not awarded our way.
Then we get pinned for a rushed behind the free against Stocker
The last bounce when we were 1 point down Henry was held and grabbed when he had open space.
Cheating and game changing

Some of STK forwards are completely unreliable in front of goal
Owens - terrible
Higgins - disgusting
King - hit and miss

That HTB decision that wasn’t paid was crucial. Big mistake.

Re: Game Day R1 2024 Cats V Saints
Better second half, but still goal kicking killed us.
A few of the young blokes showed some signs, Henry looked electric, he seemed just off a game breaking play a number of times.
Ross subbed off says a lot, we desperately need an injection of xfactor into the middle, we’ve got a bunch of GOPs at this point.
Collingwood have started the season poorly, maybe we’ll be a chance?

Re: Game Day R1 2024 Cats V Saints
A few players who didn't contribute that much so time will tell if that's a positive or if it says more about Geelong as I expect they will miss the 8 again.
King is still not that presence in the forward line.
Henry is a real hunter of the ball and just what we need more of.
Darcy should be happy with his debut.
RoMa was huge and is basically the core of our midfield

Re: Game Day R1 2024 Cats V Saints
Steele was very good.
We got nothing from Ross and Crouch and that really hurt us.
If those two guys had just broken even with their opponents we could have won it.
Phillipou is totally flat footed at stoppage and apart from the first 20 minutes was ineffective.

Played it like a practice match. That's our mulligan for the season. We are going to have to be a 5 goal better side than this week to even get close to Collingwood.

Re: Game Day R1 2024 Cats V Saints
Look, it was disappointing but…
The game was played on a ground that doesn’t suit us
We were missing Sinclair.
We had four players playing their first games for the club.
We were ok. Lots to build on.
A few impressions
Defence was good as always. Cordy went well. Bonner was the one disappointment: would be likely to miss next week for Sincs.
Our forward line would be better with Caminiti in there. Would probably need to be for Sharman, although Owens was unusually poor tonight.
Our midfield isn’t strong enough and I’m not convinced either Philippou or Owens is the answer. Or Sinclair. I wonder about Stocker: not fit enough, we’ve been told. But he seems to have the tools. We’re in a tough spot as none of Steele, Crouch and Ross are getting any younger.
And I agree that Higgins wasn’t great tonight. But I reckon he’ll hold his spot. Lyon seems to like him.
