Game Day R1 2024 Cats V Saints
Here we go again.
Good luck to the whole list and all I hope for today and for the remainder of the season is that we don't accumulate any serious injuries to allow Ross and the coaching team a really good look at the whole list.
Sounds like from recent comments by Ross he feels the list will be ready to contend in 2026 (at the latest) as it sounds like he still wants to recruit heavily from the national draft this year and then bring in some FAs next year.
I like the plan, it's patient and looking for the long term solution.
Who's going to the game today.

Re: Game Day R1 2024 Cats V Saints
Not making the trip myself but I am quite optimistic for today.
We have a busy team with a lot of runners - if we can stick our disposal… reckon we could outwork them.
Looking forward to a big game from NWM and am hoping that King can replicate or exceed his brother’s efforts.
Also really excited by young Wilson’s prospects. And as always… would love to see a big game from Coops who is a personal favourite

I thought last couple of seasons Cooper got his hands to a lot of marking opportunities but they didn’t stick.skeptic wrote: ↑Sat 16 Mar 2024 2:40pm Not making the trip myself but I am quite optimistic for today.

In last years final and the preseason he seemed to be clunking them better.
I hope they start sticking as he gets opportunities in good spots and is as good a set shot as any in our club.

No question that he has looked decent… even threatening in a step up sense but there is plenty of room for improvement too.D.B.Cooper wrote: ↑Sat 16 Mar 2024 3:09pmI thought last couple of seasons Cooper got his hands to a lot of marking opportunities but they didn’t stick.skeptic wrote: ↑Sat 16 Mar 2024 2:40pm Not making the trip myself but I am quite optimistic for today.

A bit more consistency and urgency in effort and his stock would go up several levels.

Re: Game Day R1 2024 Cats V Saints
The form guide would suggest a win to us. We wiped the floor with the Bombers in the pre-season, while the Cats had to battle hard to beat them at home. And it took the Bombers a long time today to get on top, which is further evidence that they really aren’t that good.
I’d love to see Sharman kick a bag but, if we’re going to win, it will be our usual key players (minus Sincs) that will do it for us: Steele, Crouch and Ross in the middle; Wilkie, Nas and Battle down back, and King up forward.
Not sure if Collard will start, but I’m hoping for something special from him.

PS: Wood and Owens are key players too, but I don’t think the Cattery will suit them so well (but of course hope I’m wrong). It’s a ground which promotes tight contests.

Our last win at KP was in 1999 with Tim Watson as coach to take us to 3rd on the ladder after Round 10.

I spent 3 days in Geelong a about a week ago which was unfortunate timing otherwise I most certainly would be going.skeptic wrote: ↑Sat 16 Mar 2024 2:40pm Not making the trip myself but I am quite optimistic for today.

Coops is personal favourite of mine too....
But seriously he had an impressive game in the final in a team that wasn't impressive so here's hoping he can bring that consistently this season.
Looking forward to seeing how the experienced recruits Bonner and Henry go, not expecting much from Wilson and Collard but hope they get some touch.
No injuries please.

Yeah looks like it might be another season of his poor goal kicking hurting us

We keep missing gettable goals and then Cameron pulls one out of his a--e.
