Tarryn Thomas, anyone?
Surely, the club isn’t serious about this?
It has “Andrew Lovett 2.0” written all over it!

Re: Tarryn Thomas, anyone?
Personally I’m all about the benefit of the doubt… especially if there is serious talent on board which apparently there is.
That said, I’m unfamiliar with the nature of his indiscretions if anyone can fill me in - is it linked to Lovett in that way or more on account of his sacking?

Re: Tarryn Thomas, anyone?
According to Cal Twomey we are linked to him and he announced it on his podcast Gettable. He’s usually right, and predicted Paddy Dow this time last year and he’s here. I say get him in. Like it’s no draft picks to get him. Just straight salary. We got a good indigenous community with Aunt Katrina and Hill to show him the ways. Ross will sort his s*** out and have standards. He’s that classy midfielder with dash we need.

We also forget the bloke is 23 which fits our age demographic like Liam Henry (22), Owens (20), Windhager (20), NWM (21), Phillipou (19), Dow (24), Battle (26), King (23), Stocker (24), Wilson and Schoenmaker (18). This is the core that is going to take us further than before.

Re: Tarryn Thomas, anyone?
Can the bloke keep himself fit enough with 12 months off and no footy. I suppose he could hire a personal trainer. But seems biggest problem is he has no moral compass and refuses to change. All seems a silly proposition this far away from the end of his sentence. Who knows what will happen with him in the next 12 months. Clickbait.

Re: Tarryn Thomas, anyone?
It’s bloody hard to say. Lovett we gave up a first round draft pick, this we wouldn’t have to give up much.
He seems like a s*** bloke but he’s exactly what we need. I’d be ok if we got him and ok if we passed on him.
Remember Gardy was considered a loose cannon as well. They don’t all fail to change their ways. Thomas would have to know that it’s absolutely his last chance

Re: Tarryn Thomas, anyone?
If he's free he should come. Many a s*** character has played AFL footy. It's a game not a judgement of character. Don't agree with what he's done but if he helps the club win a premiership then yes. Refer to Gary Ablett senior.

Re: Tarryn Thomas, anyone?
If he's not in jail by the end of this year or if he's not arrested for any other misdemeanors, then sure... why not.
Can he change and mature as a person? Will he be motivated by the knowledge that he may never, ever get another opportunity to earn huge money... at something he's good at.
We'll need to run it by the AFL first. Talk to headquarters. Be transparent. Don't try and sneak him in without the AFL authorities giving us their approval to bring him in.
Get them to publicly disclose that he is allowed to play for an AFL club again.
The reason I say that is that perhaps it slightly lessens the backlash on us if he stuffs up again. We'll say it was the AFL's fault

Re: Tarryn Thomas, anyone?
I don't care about Callum Twomey's strike rate.
He's either making this up, or...he's doing a favour for Thomas's family and friends, testing the water. Seeing how supporters would react.
Twomey would be on X and this forum, gauging reaction.
There's nothing in this.
TT is more trouble than he's worth. Had enough chances

Re: Tarryn Thomas, anyone?
The difference is we gave up a first round draft pick for Lovett, who had only one gift - pace.
Thomas is extremely talented and a delisted FA, but by all accounts has serious off field issues.
I wouldn’t say we take him, but I’d be disappointed if we didn’t do due diligence and look at the option.
You were all for Ben Cousins, would you consider Thomas or do you think the risk is too great?

I do! He got Paddy Dow right. He got Liam Henry right. He got Darcy Wilson right. Most likely we will get Tarryn Thomas.
We were all gun ho for Jordon De Goey who is of s*** character as well. Tarryn plays a similar role. Bring the bloke in. Sign him up to a short two year deal on low money. If he cleans his act we offer more and a longer 4 year deal. What’s to lose. We won’t be painted as a bad club because I’m sure the AFL community wants TT to play football at some capacity.

Re: Tarryn Thomas, anyone?
No . Serial offender who IMO has foregone all his 3rd and 4th chances.
Does the name Lovett ring any bells for people.
after 40 + years of membership would be enough to see that streak end.

Re: Tarryn Thomas, anyone?
s*** yeah!!!
Bring him in on a base contract with plenty of incentives and an exit clause just in case.
Map out a fitness plan and get him to engage a personal trainer at his expense.
Get Aunt Katrina meeting with him ASAP.
The kid is a huge talent and hopefully with a fresh start and proper guidance he can turn his life around.
Other clubs have been able to turn around troubled players so why can’t we, especially one who’ll come for absolutely nothing.

Re: Tarryn Thomas, anyone?
The word Lovett rings out at the drop of a hat around here and even he might have been turned around before he killed his chance completely if the transition circumstances and support systems were much better back then.older saint wrote: ↑Thu 14 Mar 2024 9:16am No . Re: Tarryn Thomas, anyone?
Why give a guy who treats woman like the way he does I was disgusted so another chance no way, what message does that send.
I am a big no we don't need him and I remember Lovett didn't even make round 1 before he was dropped by club.

Re: Tarryn Thomas, anyone?
I'm all for giving people chances, especially talented players in the cut-throat AFL industry, but how many chances did he get at North?
At some point you just have to acknowledge this industry is not for them.

Re: Tarryn Thomas, anyone?
Why are you sold on him? North Melbourne gave him umpteen chances and he kept being a POS. He has trouble written all over him. Far too risky and these types of risks have mainly backfired on us over history. There’s far better fish to go after than TT!
