Re: Webster appalling
Was always going to be heavy - trial by the media.
Could have been better, but could have been worse.
Considering that last season we actually copped a bit of a rare reprieve from the appeals panel, plus what a careless and stupid act it was, cop it and move on.
Bad management is bad management

Re: Webster appalling
This is where I think the design of the game must go quickly if we are fair dinkum. The 360 degree nature of the game would have to be limited to eliminate cannoning players as well as any other aspect of the game thst can cause contact or whiplashing of the head.cwrcyn wrote: ↑Tue 05 Mar 2024 7:16pm Okay Vortex.
Maybe it then comes down to adjusting the actual rules of the game. It would help
Ban all front on bumps immediately.
The only legal bump is a shoulder to shoulder, hip to hip bump when two players are pursuing the ball running in the same direction
In all other instances a player can only be pushed out of the way using the hands or tackled if he has possession of the ball
Apply these rule changes and the rate of concussions reduce dramatically

Re: Webster appalling
I'm not upset with this penalty. I saw it as 6 weeks when I watched it live.
Now.....let's see if the AFL have any balls and any hint of consistency with the next incident. I can almost guarantee that there will once again be wild inconsistencies over the season. They've had no credibility with this stuff for decades. Michael Christian is spineless and too afraid to upset certain people he knows in the industry.

Re: Webster appalling
Those biomechanics experts should be banned from tribunal hearings. Players should be accountable for their stupidity. How did Kysiah Pickett get off last year??
In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

Scapegoat
Should have been 5-6
7 over the top
Simpkin will mis one
What did Gaff or Hall get for putting players out for 8 weeks with round houses

Yep and to think there were some of our very own supporters screaming for an over the top penalty.
Just absolutely sucks that Jimmy has been used as a scapegoat.

Re: Webster appalling
Well we now know the penalty for this type of act.
The club ought to hit the roof if, at any time this season, a player is not dealt with as harshly for similar.
Regardless of reputation or profile, regardless of club, regardless of finals.
I can’t wait and I sense it won’t be long at all.

Re: Webster appalling
it is now in the books that he got 7 and we didn't appeal so the benchmark is now set for 2024. As long as they are consistent for the rest of the year then I am good with it.

Re: Webster appalling
Was Powell Pepper half as bad
Both bumped - both concussed opponents
Jimmy late 1 more week and left the ground 1 more week
6 weeks max

Re: Webster appalling
Love Jimmy to do the footy world a favour and ‘accidentally’ split the poor dwarf absolutely in half at the 1/4 time break. Although preferably from front on … unlike what the dwarf turd to Ian Aitken
Go you red, black & white warriors

Same as Barry Hall for king hitting Staker and one less than Gaff for putting Brayshaw out for 8 weeks and eating through a straw for a month

Appalling.
Disgraceful.
7 weeks is OTT.
But the Kremlin hates us, as does the media.

Re: Webster appalling
Can't believe he did it- didn't need to, wasn't tough and he can wear the bloody consequences. Should spend a bit of time at Sandy when he gets back.
