Already 194cm and 90kg+

Could get to 196cm and 100kg+

Great intercept mark and a super left foot

Will give forwards plenty to worry about

Lets hope he does get to at least 196cm and a 100kg although the stats sheet does not change.
He looked like he had plenty of time and took 11 marks I think not bad for a kid first game.
He has played forward at times for Tassie so that could be a option as well if keeler is back.

I don't get why you try to make a developing forward into a back and a developing back into a forward! I get being versatile, but these players were drafted because they have natural skills in their positions that need to be nurtured and developed, not a complete reset!

I would be tempted to bring Shoenmaker in to replace Howard. Put Battle at full back on Hawkins and Wilkie on Cameron and let Shoens take the 3rd tall.

It has to be Cordy. Schoenmaker is a pup with a lot to learn. It's always tempting to bring in a youngster and I'm keen to see them get a chance, but I think it's best to let Arie develop at Sandy at this stage

Cordy will come in for Howard. I see no reason why Schoenmaker can't develop in the seniors. He will not be worse than Howard. I can't see Howard making the cut next year.

For Arie to develop in the seniors he'd have to displace Battle. Or be good enough to have Battle, Wilkie, Schoey as the big 3 defenders.

If we can get away with carrying Cordy, we would be a better side. Not sure matchups will allow that.

Then you've got a 200cm Keeler getting ready to slot in there too.

Word from Moorrabbin is ... Nothing to see here.

Cordy and Battle to replace Doogs and Jimmy

Not really a replacement for Jimmy though. Make us too top heavy.

Battle for Jimmy is OK if Wilkie plays small.

We really don't have another ready made lock down small defender. Paton won't be back until the lead up to finals.

Stocker probably plays lock down small defender alongside perhaps Windy if he is fit.

The pressure has been on from Ross from day dot that every player needs to work both offensively and defensively.

It probably brings Sincs and Nas back a touch in terms of their defense/offense ratio but with the addition of Bonner, we can cover it.

I agree - unless Wndy or Sinclair are fit.

Cordy and Battle will come in to play the key defensive options - but we usually play a running defender on the bench - and we are out of options until one of Windy, Clark, or Sinclair is ready.
Ari will have to pinch hit giving Nas and Bonner an occasional spell on the bench.

Arie will be in the running. The downside though is that Hawkins and Cameron are both quality key forwards who are very experienced. Plus the Cats team as a whole is very experienced.

So I think the selectors will opt for Cordy's experience and more mature body. So assuming Battle is fit and he seems to be Arie might sneak onto the IC. However for us to win , I think the coaches may believe that we need to win around the ground with pace, run and ball movement. And that may keep Arie out. Especially if Pou plays..

Arie if he plays will be as a rotating back, and I would expect it to be more as intercepting back. The selectors may just go with Wulkie, Battle and Cordy as our three tall defensive options.

Membrey being back in the team is another option to play back as flows in the game demand. And Sharman has also looked capable if switched back.

B:Wilkie, Cordy, Stocker
HB: NWM, Battle, Bonner
C: Hill, Steele, Wood
HF: Henry, Sharman, Owens
F: Higgins, King, Membrey

Foll: Marshall, Crouch, Ross

The above are all I believe locks.

Wilson after his preseason including practice game form plays.

Pou will play if declared fit.

With no Dow, they may opt for Jones to add some difference to our midfield.

Byrnes has had a good preseason and so I think will play too.

Windy is a chance.

I'm not sure Phillipou is a walk up start for best 22.

Saw nothing in preseason to suggest he demands a spot.

I think he's fighting it out for spot 22/sub

Wilson already better.

To the serial knockers of Howard, when fit and available he is a first pick player

And he is badly missed when absent

With his height and mobility he allows Wilkie and Battle to do what they do best, neither of those 2 near the 199cm of Howard

My concern with our defence is the lack of a defender able to lock down the key and class small forwards across the competition

So someone who can sacrifice their game for the needs of the side

Our defence, absent Howard, will be undersized and under pressure against the ageing Hawkins then Cameron

Next weekend is a fingers crossed match

The last game we played GWS showed us what a side they have - not allowing us momentum

The margin was 3/4 goals all the way - and 4 scoring shots and 4 goals at the end

Noting Cordy was totally ineffectual on the night, attempting to position ahead of their tall timber forwards and being caught out by their running lines

GWS are one of the obvious contenders this year

They are well balanced, with strong mature bodies

Noting we beat them on their dung heap mid season

This is a bit out there - but when Howard is out, is Tom Campbell worth a call-up when there is a monster forward who has to be bodied?

I would have thought that Campbell could handle the wrestling (which is a bit like ruck work) but might be too slow to move into position or to spoil. However, at the very least, he should be able to keep the monster distracted.

Hmmmmm??

I doubt they’d go for it… RTB is a bit of a conservative roles coach, but I liked it

Since we have all these injuries again I believe it would be the perfect time to play Schoenmaker. Show faith in the youngsters and they will blossom.

I wouldn’t put Schoenmaker within a Bull’s Roar of Hawkins or Cameron

It would be Zac Dawson on Rocco all over again

Both 197cm
Hawkins 108kg
Cameron runs like a mid

Arie would be out of his depth, doubt whether we would throw him to the wolves like that!!!
