Howard v Larkey will be interesting.

Also how we handle Sheezel and Uniake hyphen.

Pou needs to impose himself, please.

An opportunity to give time to Owens and Byrnes as genuine midfielders in the guts. Let's see Arie at CHB rather than Cordy - please.

Yawn.

Not really much weaker than last week.

What will be interesting is who puts their hand up for a midfield spot.

Big opportunity for some of our younger players to stake a more permanent claim to that position.

If this was amateur football I'd like to see the below.

Steele and owens rotate forward and onball (80% of on field time on ball for Steele, 20% for Owens)

Pou and Henry the same and same ratios respectively.

Battle hurt his knee last week trying to land on Gresham's head. Shoey is in as, from what I read on here, he is vying for the second/third tall and, with Battle out, he gets a chance.

As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”

Howard will go to The Hyphen won't he.
Wilkie to Larky
Webster to Zurhaa.
Marshall dropping in at the middle of the defensive 50?
I'd give Shoey a crack at Larkey too and tell him to wear his arse and let Wilkie run off Zurhaa while Webster stays close.

Yeah, nah. North was only able to win one game out of their last twenty-one against the most underperforming team in the league last year and given it was off Broadway in Tassie, I don't think the Suns even tried much after half time in that one to be honest (personally, I reckon North played their best footy for the year when Ratts was coaching them).

Practice match results don't really matter, but RL won't want us going to Geelong in a losing frame of mind.

Regarding North, a team who have troubled us in the past; add these names from last season to their list of notable absentees: no Goldstein in the ruck, McKay in the back line, No Cunnington or Ziebell for on field leadership and to protect their youngsters in the midfield or in the forward line, and no Thomas who was close to being their best player when he was out there last year.

We won't steamroll them, but they won't beat us.

Don't reckon we'll see that today. RL will be looking to see who can do the job at Geelong if Battle can't. Cordy would be best suited.

Still a pretty decent side albeit a bit down in the midfield. Great opportunity for some players to show what they’ve got today.

I think we have the tall backs covered round 1 without Battle. Howard on Hawkins, Wilkie on Cameron.

There’s no suggestion that Battle is in doubt for round 1
It’s precaution that he is rested this match.
