With injuries, you just have to plan for your best team and have contingencies in place. The alternative to training hard and being injured pre-season is being injured mid-game, mid-season. Last year proved the value of a fit and hardened 22 on the park.

Reducing training loads to prevent injuries is also just going to end up with a worse side altogether. A few injuries in exchange for a boost to the overall fitness of the team is not a terrible thing.

For Hunter, he is important but replaceable. He might find it hard to make it into the side if others like Pou and Garcia come on strong, and Jones stays fit. There is definitely no HBF spot for him anymore and would need to play inside midfield.

Not sure about RL's view of chronically injured players who are in and out of the team. Success relies a lot on consistency and keeping stability across the lines, not swapping players in and out of positions. Clark and Jones are great additions when fully fit, but seem like their bodies are eggshells right now.

We cant keep stringing along these perpetually injured players, hoping it will change. A lot of Clark's injuries have been unlucky, but it hasnt changed so he has to be in the gun to be traded at years end. Jones is another if he cant stay fit he has to go, and I think Paton's future is already written.

There are other options that can be utilised.
Then Hunter will have to get himself back in the team.
8 weeks of a younger player playing his role won't help our finals chances but it will improve our list.
If Hunter is any good we will see it when he returns.
If he doesn't get back in he is handy depth for a team obviously in form.
If he does come back and plays his best, he could make a difference to our back half.
Hunter hasn't lived up to his selection, for what ever reasons.
