I'm tired of it YOY
I live in SA and I love all the positive training, match sim reports. I listen to SEN Vic because it's not SA biased. I love Johnnie from Epping and Margaret, she didn't sound well this morning so I hope she's OK. I got really annoyed this morning when they did a segment .. who goes out of 8 the 8 and who comes in. Everyone said us to go out. Please Ross let the players hear this segment...I'm sick of it !!!!!!

I'm quite happy to have everyone underestimate us - makes it all the sweeter when we win and rub it in their faces

The ladder didn't lie in 2023 and it won't this year either.
Happy for us to be underdogs - in sport you usually have to fight the media for that status.

Re: I'm tired of it YOY
I get the underdog thing but I'm tired of it. We had so many injuries last year and still made the 8. The first team they said would drop was us. Do they know our list or do they go by history? I think our youngsters will make their own history...might be Collard, Wilson, Keeler with the group before them ... just hate being pigeon holed

All the journalists think the Saints will drop out of the 8. It shows that they can't think independently. It's journalism by consensus.

An injury ravaged season last year and at least 3 guns playing their second or third season. Of course we’re heading downwards!
What is YOY? Is that a South Australian thing?

Re: I'm tired of it YOY
I think YOY means Year Over Year - I would say Year AFTER Year - so maybe it is an SA thing (but possibly a Finance thing as in This Year Over Last Year Ratios).

Re: I'm tired of it YOY
Year on year is usually an financial term to describe comparisons between years.
In reality, positions 4-14 are very close and I don't think you can even come close to picking a top 8. It will almost certainly come down to luck and injuries.
The comp equalisation strategy is finally working. Until North, GC, and GWS win the next few flags until Tasmania come in and win 3.

They were all saying the same this time last year - so I guess RTB will remind the group of our club being written off again! We are just not a side the average punter rates - but we will earn that respect under Lyon and more.mickey wrote: ↑Sat 17 Feb 2024 11:08pm I live in SA and I love all the positive training, match sim reports. I'm going to be as positive as I can, I don't think we can win the flag this year.
I feel this opinion leaves adequate wriggle room for a diverse range of positive AND negative outcomes at seasons end...
from being being runners up in the GF to finishing bottom four.
I feel it's an opinion that really complies with community standards for diversity, equity and inclusion.

Happy to fly under the radar.
Damien Barrett is the one I want to see choke on his cornflakes if we can push for top 4.
The only thing that matters is how we actually play and where we finish up.. .pundits have zero effect.

Re: I'm tired of it YOY
Come on Saint Ray you've always said you hated BF and claimed quite forcefully you would never grace BF with the privilege of your presence but here you are admitting you are in fact a BF lurker....and it's soooooop obvious you are Saint Ray over at BF.
A simple search of SS will provide all of the evidence to prove the countless times you have bagged BF.
Crickey Saint Ray you are fun.

You are so wrong it's effing laughable. And you are a joke as well as a carscum supporter.
Anyway , why are you lurking on two Saints sites under two different names.
Don't you have a life.
Games up...for you.

Re: I'm tired of it YOY
Maybe we are not as good as we think - yet.
Our big weaknessess, and they were beauties, were our midfield from set plays and forward efficiency. Great coaching possibly papered over that a bit. We don't have the home ground advantage of interstate sides. We seem to have recruited well but that's to be proven. GWS, Lions and Carlton proved a cut above us in the latter part of the season even though we lacked nothing in courage and effort. We have some fantastic players but there are structural gaps. I can see how biased commentators could under rate us. I expect them to be wrong. If we are 2 & 0 after two games the narrative will be all our way. 1 & 1 people will start paying attention. 0 & 2 the condescending smugness will decend on us and it will be a slog.
