Re: Training Reports
I'd suggest we will try and force the 50 to open up, draw the defence out and hold possession until with kicking distance.
We will run most teams off their feet by half time and utilise power forwards to gain superior position in the latter parts of the game.

Re: Training Reports
Last year Jack Higgins kicked 35 goals in the AFL
Collard kicked 20 odd in the WAFL Colts
I think Jack is a smidge ahead of Collard right now

Re: Training Reports
Fair enough. But our big weakness was the forward line. If we keep applying the last on first off rule we just get nowhere. Higgins blew some important chances notwithstanding the ones he nailed. And I am uncertain about his defensive work. Seems to lose his feet often, or maybe that's perception bias.

Re: Training Reports
Higgins King and Caminiti are power forwards.
Collard, Butler, Membrey and Sharman are not and can play other positions.
Steele, Garcia, Wilson and Wood are capable goal kicking mids.
Hill, NWM Bonner Sinclair and maybe Shoey are running backs with beautiful kicks
I'm seeing a plan there.

Re: Training Reports
In fact ...
Collard kicked 32 goals in only 11 games for the Colts!
He kicked 10 goals in 2 final games.
Collard could be the next Bobby Hill, who knows? ... he's similarly made for the MCG. Slippery, quick.
Our forward pressure will certainly go up a notch or 2, I'm sure of that.

[ Complete waste of space as far as I'm concerned and should be cut when his contract expires. )
Far out Moods, you don't mind sticking it to players on a relatively personal level. If you wouldn't say it in the clubrooms after a game, you shouldn't be typing it on social media. It's weak as !!..........surely you can get your message across without
such criticism. These blokes or their friends, or families read these posts.

Geez man, it's early 2024 and you are already into Byrnes.
Give bagging the players a rest, at least until the season starts.

They love Byrnes
His ‘off the ball’ running is enormous
I can see the following Subs at different stages
Byrnes, Dow, Jones, Ross, Crouch, Bonner, Wilson, Garcia

Re: Training Reports
Ross and Crouch are old heads.
The only way they're subs is being managed, coming back from injury

From about 200 words you’ve copied 4 words that you think was personal and haven’t acknowledged that I explained on a football level why i think, ‘he’s a complete waste of space’Simon Templar wrote: ↑Fri 09 Feb 2024 5:48pm [ Complete waste of space as far as I'm concerned and should be cut when his contract expires. )

In other words he’s taking up space on our list which is finite, he’s not a complete waste of space as a human being.
Sorry if that offends, but I don’t rate him at all. I’m sure Nathan wouldn’t want me to say that to his face but how do you say that nicely? As long as you can back up or explain your opinion not sure there’s a problem

Re: Training Reports
Byrnes still has improvement in him. He's had some really good quarters in games but hasn't got to a consistent level yet.
I wouldn't write him off. Leigh Montagna started his career in similar fashion and became a fine player. Let's not forget Sinclair, who was tracking a similar trajectory to Byrnes ( the odd good quarter here and there) and now look at him. All Australian.
Byrnes is a professional. He's quick and does a power of running which the coach sees as a prerequisite. He also uses the ball pretty well. Just because he doesn't look stylish and smooth like Brad Hill is irrelevant.

Re: Training Reports
I see a lot of potential in Byrnes. While he’s a bit inconsistent (which young player isn’t) he’s very quick, has a great tank and has a few tricks. They should persist with him I reckon.

Well, obviously he’s Zach’s brother. And he’d be upset if I told him in the rooms that I didn’t rate his brothersaynta wrote: ↑Sat 10 Feb 2024 5:37pmNathan? Genuine mistake. Thought he’d been banned for taking drugs. I’ve amended my original post. Poor by me

Re: Training Reports
Byrnes just hit 48 games. I'll back him to improve on his 17 disposals in 20 games last year and hopefully he will hit 20+.
Of the 48 games, in 5 he never got on the ground and in 5 more, he came on late.
His career average of 14.6 is probably closer to 17 and he runs with the ball on the less favoured wing and provides a lot of connection.
He doesn't win ball, he is an outside runner.
