By attrition, it's not the CEO or the coach, per se. Perhaps it's a personality thing.
I imagine Mr Bassett and Ross at the moment, a couple of sponsors, Lindsay Fox, Nick Reiwoldt. Trying to think of a current player that might, Callum Wilkie seems a strong clever mind.

Behind the scenes I expect it's Jason Blake, a former Ross Lyon protege and now a director on the board.

I'm in no doubt Blake, who holds a double degree in Bachelor of Civil Engineering (Construction Management) and a Bachelor of Business (Finance Specialisation), had a major influence on the appointment of Ross Lyon as senior coach in October 2022.

Blake will be in regular touch with all of his team mates from that successful era when St Kilda played in successive Grand Finals 2009/10, all of who have a very high regard for their former coach.

"Any candidate for political office, once chosen for leadership, must have the will to take the wheel of a very powerful car, tasked from time to time to make a fast journey down a narrow, precipitous mountain road – and be highly skilled at driving. Otherwise, he is disqualified from the company of competent leaders."

John Carroll, Professor Emeritus of Sociology at La Trobe University.

Blake is a puppet to Ross...and degrees are meaningless pieces of paper when it comes to power...

The most powerful person at the club is the donor of millions of dollars of money...if he says jump then everyone at the club jumps.

I wish he would!

In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

If RTB has too much leverage at the club then ..I’m comfortable with that

As has been alluded to ,I’m getting on a bit and willing to throw the dice for a short term fix

If I was going to pass those dice for someone to roll down that table it would be to him

I hear ya, but I’m more worried about the psyche of those over there that will vote him in

If America wasn’t already going a bit crazy it certainly has amped it up

The pity is we mirror all the problems of USA and UK, we just lag a few years. Boy we need a true leader, but that seems impossible. Hope we win a premiership before the revolution.

Should be the CEO

At StK it’s the senior coach

He’ll get rid of Bassett soon

Serious hypothetical

What if Donald Trump - seriously people, please consider this - what if Donald Trump offered to run St Kilda Footy club? Would you accept?

Let's say his lawyers quickly got connected and keyed into the mechanics of the deal. They read the cosnstitution and know they need to form a board, lodge an application for an extra-ordinary meeting (or whatever the fine print says)

Say they presented well.

Say they recruited an Stan Alves or Grant Thomas to say something nice. And Hunters and Collectors to play a song, 'You Don't Make me Feel like I'm a Saint anymore' etc.

Would you take it? i mean, the impact would be enormous. And I kid you not, it won't be that long, before the AFL realises they have to open the door to a, b and c.

The AFL got serious and started breaking up the state leagues when the money men of the 70's - 80's began to seriously monetize their operations.

They sent the SANFL broke and then bailed them out.
The VFL is an embarrassment.

The media run Trumps campaigns and run with his ideologies.

The media run the AFL too.

The average punter takes a while to catch on.

Problem is, there is only so much milk in the cow. The game needs to grow, still.

So, the neglect at grass roots level has to stop and the fabric of society and the way it evolves, needs to be weaved into the game.

It's no guarantee to win Premierships.

Barassi (may he rest in peace) was a huge threat, so they made him a puppet-icon.

Trump is just a Conduit for those he represents. That s*** won't wash here. We are already being back doored by Asia.

We should all go buy a Chery hybrid economy class vehicle instead.

Bassat is running the show, but he is smart enough to give Roscoe control of the football part of the operation.

I’d imagine Bassat has no illusions about his own football knowledge and good management means getting people who have that knowledge and capability in the right places.

I suppose the AFL and perhaps the media ?? Are committed or mutually understand each other so that their model would never collapse in the face of pressure to create ann English Premier League type situation. 14/20 EPL clubs are now owned by foreign interests. Newcastle were languishing, debt ridden and uncompetitive. The Saudi Public Investment Fund becomes the majority owner by pouring in 300 million pounds, and they are competitive …well so far.

But how does this affect a fan? It seems EPL is still huge ..

This researcher shows the strategies that fans use to maintain a positive identity and whilst keeping themselves associated with the club.

Now would God above choose Donald Trump or Saudi Arabia in the Human Rights court? Perhaps it doesn’t matter?
