Deserves a chance to cement his position. Physically he seems less prone to injury than King sand we need another gun forward in future.

It's him or Tim Membrey. They will be competing for the same role. King is the definite starter, and the coach is a big fan of Caminiti. We can't play four talls inside the forward fifty. Sharman will need to get to peak fitness and show some real drive to get a regular gig if all our tall forwards are fit to play.
To me, he's a similar player to Jack Gunston.

Do people know what GOAT stands for?
No, I don't think Cooper Sharman will become the GOAT in 2024.

He is the spin bowler for the Australian cricket Test team, otherwise know as Gary.

Another term/word that has lost meaning through misuse and overuse.
Comparison with Plugger shows disrespect for the great man.
Disingenuous twaddle.

Re: Sharman will become the GOAT in 2024....
I’m a big fan of Coops and was really barracking for him to get some opportunities and show us what he’s got.
As has been documented at length… he’s close to the most reliable set shot in the team, is a decent grab and has a knack for for finding space.
The flip side is that he still has a way to go from bridging the gap between his best and worst… with emphasis on how he can contribute when he’s not kicking goals. It’s heartening to see that they/he have invested in his running capacity/tank with the view that he plays a shut down role.
Whilst 2023 was promising… with forward position up for grabs, like many, he needs to go up a gear to cement his spot. Reality for him was that he went from being really good at times… to being an influence’less liability in the games he was dropped.
Obviously the conversation of GOAT is just plain ridiculous hyperbole designed for reaction but Sharman actually is a player worth discussing and keeping an eye on. He hasn’t been mentioned particularly prominently in any of the training threads leading up to the brake which is a shame because one would love to read that he’s burning up the track.
You could really see it going either way with him in that a) he effectively replaces Membrey in the team and takes steps towards a decent career…
Or he doesn’t do the hard yards to go up a gear and falls back to the pack.
One thing that’s encouraging about Sharman and the RTB method is that IMO, RTB1.0 might not have given a player like Coops the time of day identifying his deficiencies and not progressing beyond that.
Version 3.0 had Coops out of the top 30 starting the season, rewarded his hard work… dropped him on at least one occasion (maybe 2) when form warranted it, let him fight his way back in and then rewarded his effort and form effectively cementing his spot in the team at season’s end with a good display in our final.
It seems to me that the kid is willing to do the work so I’m backing him in… big Coops fan here

Re: Sharman will become the GOAT in 2024....
I am actually. A long time ago I won the best & fairest as a pace bowler in Year 12 cricket however I also bowled leg spin. I had a wrong 'un. It was bloody hard to bowl it but I when I got it right the batsman was always in trouble as they couldn't pick it.

As far as I know, doosra is just another term for wrong one (wrong 'un).

Doosra literaly means second one or other one.
The Googly, it is suggested, comes from the word Googie - an egg.
On end, you can roll a googie egg and not know which direction it can turn because of its shape.
They both refer to wrong 'uns.
One is English, the other is Hindu Urdu
Thanks Google. Haha

Shane Warne never bowled a doosra
Murali never bowled a wrong un
It’s cricket vernacular
There is also left arm orthodox
Which is just a left are finger spinner
There is no such thing as a right arm orthodox
And a chinaman is a left are wrist spinner
Wrong uns
Can also be called Bosie

From a glossary of cricket vernacular by the ACA
Doosra - invented by Saqlain Mushtaq, coined by Moin Khan, a finger spinner's answer to the googly.

Finger spinner and wrist spinner are the defined difference.
Not leg or off.
Share Warne bowled off spin from a wrist action.

Re: Sharman will become the GOAT in 2024....
Left arm orthodox is a left arm finger spinner, who bowls leg spin to a right hand batsmen.
If the batsmen is left handed he bowls off spin.
Most commentators are idiots and the English who invented the games were elitist dickheads who thought that there bullsit terminology made sense.

Oops.
If I offended any elitist dickheads, I'm sure the post will disappear, don't stress.
It was just a doosra, an orthodox one.

Seriously doubt Sharman will ever be the 'Greatest of all time', but I'd be delighted if he became a GAP (good average player) and finished top 10 in our B&F.
