Really had little expectations from Caminiti this season, he was a afterthought draft choice made in desperation, young and green with no pre-season. Ultimately his contribution was far in excess of expectation, but as the season wore on his effectiveness declined and he struggled to demand a role in our best 20.

With a season under his belt, some natural development and a full pre-season lets hope he turns out good enough to demand that role as a 2nd tall forward and part-time backup for Marshall. It's an important part of our structure and we don't have many alternates at this stage.

Caminiti needs to learn the best way to work with Max King. If both King & Caminiti can both provide marketing targets and draw defenders away from the other they can both be more effective.

If Caminiti manages to take the necessary step, I'd say it's an unexpected bonus for St Kilda and it increases our chances of making finals.

Saint Mike has suggested Caminiti will be trialled in defence next season, which makes sense given our list structure. We will have Membrey and King back and Hayes or Sharman to play the 3rd tall. Plus we have Keeler developing who is also very handy when rucking.

Caminiti has pace, is good over head, a great tackler and an aggressive streak so he has the tools to make it as a key defender. Either way it will be good for his development.

Hmmm…

I wonder if this suggests a defender may be moved on

Are we expecting Battle to move on next season now he is a free agent or are we hoping for a early draft pick for him.
What of Van es he is 197cm 100kg who is also a KPD but having Caminiti there would be good especially if Dougal goes as well some interest in him this year.

Why would we want to lose Battle?

I doubt we would.

Someone on this forum posted words to the effect that his partner is based at Goldcoast or something like that so he might be interested in leaving

So far we have:

Butler out for 6 months with a broken ankle
Phillipou yet to sign so probably leaving
Caminiti to play CHB even though he’s a highly rated young forward
Battle going to the Gold Coast

Have I missed anything?

We’re pretty light on for tall defenders so we don’t need to get rid of anyone.
It’s an area we’ve lost numerous players through retirement and some not being up to it in recent years.
Would be a bonus if Caminiti makes a decent fist of it as a defender!

I was being facetious, but subtlety and sensing sarcasm don't appear to be your strong points.

Isn’t sarcasm the lowest form of humour?

BTW
I clearly knew

But the S is an MO on here to jump to conclusions or jump at shadows or exaggerate like all fk

I mentioned we should re-sign Phillipou
Next minute he was getting a 10 year godfather in offer

Talk about OTT

Is sarcasm the lowest form of wit?

Like anything, it depends on the context and in this case, it works.

Yeah, you knew, and agree that there was a kernel of truth to my post, hence your nonsensical and arrogant response:

“You are the only person saying any of that!”

Merry Christmas!

Well, did you hear about Max King? Going to GC when contract expires IF he keeps performing. Supposedly a multi-million / year deal. Heard some jackass at work swear his missus' brother told her, he works at GC ( I know thats true but hes a flipping physio lol).

So yeah Max is gone...one day

Battle and King would equate to about 4 top 23 draft picks in 2026, if we can hold Battle that long. In a highly compromised draft.

Caminiti, Phillipou and Owens will be Kings.

Marshall could be CHB still and Paddy and Heath will be around too hopefully.

If we don't nab Moyle first.

I grew up with his dad. I heard mutterance from one of my closest friends, hos cousin, he was leaving his options open.

I was told his in laws are set up on Gold Coast, it was confirmed on his insta and facebook, I suppose it could be an option. Gold Coast would be the winner.

Nothing confirmed from the lad himself
