Thats a ridiculous call - Jones is 28yo, Hill & Ross 30yo and all provide plenty to the club. They are the players that provide the stability and drive around the club. RTB loves Jones who is flying on the track this preseason, Hill is still a class above most of the competitiion and is brilliant with the young indigenous players at the club. Ross is an ex captain who may not be in the best 22 at some point but his leadership and guidance for the inexperienced players is invaluable.darylcowie wrote: ↑Thu 30 Nov 2023 2:42pm I'm pretty sure that Jones, Ross, Hill and Campbell will not be offered contracts at the end of 2024.
So the development of Dow, Windhager, Henry and Heath will all be vital next year.
While Crouch, Steele, Hayes, Membrey, Webster and Wood will all be 30+ by the end of 2025.
Making the longer-term development of Owens, Clark, Keeler, Caminiti, Garcia and Shoenmaker important too!
Have a look at Collingwoods GF side - Sidebottom is 32yo and Pendelbury is 35yo. Isaac Smith was recruited to Geelong as a 32yo and was their best player in a winning GF at 33yo. Age means nothing if the players are contributing to the club. Players age at different levels I can see Hill playing until he is 35yo and still being a very good player.
