(the most recent example is the Cairns debacle).
Put almost $1 million in our bank, that's a fair leg up for the footy department that it otherwise doesn't have access to this season, and for what? to appease a small section of the supporter base.

Was used as a Sweatner by Bassett for damage control when he sacked Ratts and bought in Ross but I think he'll regret that decision sooner than later and agree to the AFL in sending us back to playing a regional game somewhere in Australia. Especially in light of our stubbornly high debt that we can't seem to reduce.
Cost us top 8 position too. The slump was horrendous.

We fixed both those issues last year.

Howd Port go?
Having money to invest in the footy department not so much.

Maybe we can get some more football people on the board. Lol

We have the newest elite high performance training centre and we have two of them.

Still significantly less resources than the rich clubs that are rarely out of tbe top 8 and consistently in the top 4 and winning flags.

And no need to pay off our $10 million dollar debt either?

Do a comparison.

You don't know anything about our facilities.

They are in Melbourne.

I dont know anything about anyone else.

No comparison necessary.

We have the elite sports facilities.

We have elite coaches

They have done nothing but solidify our
position and recruit talented athletes and rise up the ladder

The richest team.in the comp, who is not owned by the AFL, just finished last.

Pffft.

I know where Melbourne is, might even have some property there, might even have a home near the club, might spend a bit of time there, might even be a short bicycle ride to the club.

Our resources are still much less than the successful clubs which is measured by the amount of success we've had over 150 years. No comparison in that sense so it's silly to argue we can compete with the rich clubs when we haven't been able to for 150 years.

It's one of the areas of the club that we need to improve if we are to be capable of producing sustained success and become relevant. And I'm suspicious we are struggling in that area based on us not being able to get our stubbornly high debt down.

We didn't but we easily could have. From our slums in Moorabbin, VFL Park and as slave tenants at Etihad because we resisted with VFL Park in the first place.

Its protagonists, that are usually the problem.

They like to drive alternate narratives, when anticipation skills haven't quite matured.

They create problems that don't exist.

Usually through negative anticipatory manifestation of doom.

Like Covid 19 and arms race wars we need to prep for.

I never lived in Moorabbin, you lucky bastard.

Social club access did the job though.

Brother in law lived on Centre Road, I was closer to Southland and went to the schools in the area.

Fantastic part of town
Best friend was in Seaford so I spent a bit of time there too. Always thought I’d end up in a nice secluded spot in Rye but ended moving the other way.

Talk about St Kilda supporter credibility, which is what I think the point being made was, if you are from the area then a massive chance you are a Saints tragic.

Remember leaving Moorabbin after a Saturday afternoon game and heading straight to the Bentlieigh library to line up for finals tickets to our first finals game in 17 years after having endured the lean years of the 70s and 80s.

Couldn't wait to get to drinking age to become a social club member, used to leave Moorabbin Tafe on South Road on a Thursday arvo to head to training and team selection with a regular crew of family and friends.

I don’t know about credibility Vort…

I’ll def take Saint’s tragic thought.

When I was 13, the Saints had an event for my high school. We went to William Fry Reserve just next to Southland and there was like an all day footy clinic.

Burkey, Loewe, Hudghton, Jones, Brown, Sziller, Peckett all there.

I remember how charismatic Burke was. Really chatty and funny

As far as Moorabbin goes… essentially a bike ride from my folk’s place.
I always yearned for the game to return there.

I had a friend that lived on Tennyson street, spent quite a bit of time there.

Was just off Argus Street. Freaky to think that we pbly crossed paths a bunch of times over the years.

Short walk to the ground to watch us get pumped 🙁 (in the 80's)

Mum came back from NZ with Dad in the 50's, Maori flag is red whie and black.

Great great grandmother was born in St.Kilda before the cricket club formed.

My Maori great great grandfather had a pub in South Melbourne named after him, when he leased it as his home while trading NZ lumber, textiles and food during the goldrush years.

I had no choice.

That's nice lineage you have there CQ, are you familiar with the site of the pub?

And yes what is this "choice" you speak of?

Maybe that's why us older Sainters carry such a burden😜

It's still there.

It was a public house, not licensed. They came in 63, did continual imports for 3 years just before and during the Maori wars. The left in 67.

When my family left the name remained and was licensed in 1868.
The name and location is obvious. The Maori Chief.

The house was coloured red white and black. Not implying anything but......... hehehe.
