Interesting

Not sure how it all works but I think few would be complaining RE drafting the last 3 years

Must have someone highly rated ready to come in, you'd think .

We finally get our recruiting right and the head guy gets the chop. Bizarre

Read the article. It says that his position has become redundant because they are restructuring the recruitment department.

I've read plenty of redundancy memos and this one reeks of a sacking.

Replace "national recruiting manager" with some title that doesn't exist in any similar organisation.

Toce will join another AFL club and be very successful there too.

The mention of a review and change of job titles is just a method to move on Toce` without the back lash. They are suggesting on BF that we have Simon Dalrymple lined up to replace him, hopefully that is the case.

Is Dalrymple any good? I suppose with a surname like his he should be top notch?

I don't know who he is but I reckon Toce is better value.

Last 3 years have been exceptional for drafting, reckon its a tough call on Toce

I must say it does look like that.

Could it be that they don't want to recruit teens next year or in 2025. Perhaps Gubby and SOS looking to trade our 1st round draft picks for the next 2 years with a couple of key targets in mind.

Maybe trying to fast track the team. They're in a hurry to succeed.

We'll find out I suppose in next year trade period whether I'm right or not

I hope not. I just want them to keep going to the National Draft for another 3 years and stockpiling more young talent until we have a core group of at least 12 proven players all under the age of 24. Once we have that in place then we can look at other avenues.

Someone has to pay the price for the recruitment department selecting Billings instead Bontempelli and following that up by selecting McCartin instead of Petracca

But did any body check who made those decisions.
If they had they would have realised that Toce was not even at the club.

Wouldn't it be contradictory to the massaging Ross and the club have put out there including comments made by Ross in his presser after the loss to GWS?

Also the comments by the fourth pillar in Geoff Walsh when he claimed our list build strategy would be predominantly via the national draft?

Would be cause for great concern if we do a backflip now and go the quick fix all of a sudden.

I think Toce started in 2015 and Trout wanted P Mac after Tom Boyd...he wanted a big key fwd at all costs.

9 years seems a very good run. Particularly in a club noted for hamfisted recruitment for most of that period. Good luck to Chris.

I didn't know he'd been with us for 9 years

Still, this is a big surprise. There certainly has been a lot of movement at the station these past 18 months.

Hard to know what to make of this latest 'restructure'

Be interesting to know more about the inner structure. Maybe Toce ran the team but others were more hands on with the field work and rating the talent? Maybe they thought he was upgradable?

Maybe he disagreed with something Ross said so Mr Yes Men Only got rid of him.

With Allen as talent acquisition and Silvagni as list manager I'd say the middle man got the chop.
