The AFL copied the idea from the NRL who copied the idea from the England Super League.

Here's some positives :-

All the people from Vic who I spoke to last year loved it, not far to Adelaide and they got to come over with mates or family and watch a couple of games free from moronic Crows and Port supporters plus do some sightseeing.

My family and I got to see our team play a Victorian team without spending hundreds of dollars travelling to Melbourne. Saints supporters in Melbourne get to see them all the time.

The hospitality industry gets a boost in Adelaide after suffering through Covid. The whole city gets behind the weekend. Country people get to see some AFL games in their town.

Interstate supporters get to see that there are a lot of supporters in SA that follow other teams besides the Crows and Port and we're actually normal people with one head.

The negatives ... selecting a crowd drawing team to play the SA team like Carlton last year. Selecting the wrong venue for crowd drawing teams like Norwood for Saints v Tigers.

You could do a gather round at 1 ground if needed. Not sure why they decided to use the regional grounds in Adelaide.

Brisbane could easily do it, especially if a refurb of the showgrounds stadium goes through. A few games down the road at Carrara would go alright.

It is in their interests to push Tassie as impoverished.

I think Tassie should have two teams like all legacy footy states.

Take advantage of the North-South rivalry at a national level. Every one can imagine they have a rivalry, so it builds a tasty narrative that can fuel the public imagination. Even if local crowds are small, there is still TV or general interest
