Surely he has a heck of a lot of trust building to do before even being considered for a spot in the firsts.

Yeah I’m kind of miffed by this response too.
I would imagine that if he’s fit, he plays on merit.
What’s the inference?

Re: Best teams
I'm guessing it's a view that is leveraging from posts by Curly that inferred Members unavailability for our final was for what Curly claimed were "selfish" reasons.
Now Curly has some SS cred as an ITK after he was privy to some advanced info relating to Ratts sacking, it does'nt take much on this site but that's his claim to ITK fame on SS and so a certain degree of cred comes with that territory.
So now it's a question of who's adding 1 + 1 and getting 3...Curly or Yorks.

Re: Best teams
There is no inference it's an opinion. Duty of care suggests to me the club needs to make sure he is ok. If that’s agreed, how would you go about it, just throw the guy in the deep end, act like there is no issue to resolve? Wishing its all just water under the bridge doesn't always make it so.

Re: Best teams
I'm pretty sure that Jones, Ross, Hill and Campbell will not be offered contracts at the end of 2024.
So the development of Dow, Windhager, Henry and Heath will all be vital next year.
While Crouch, Steele, Hayes, Membrey, Webster and Wood will all be 30+ by the end of 2025.
Making the longer-term development of Owens, Clark, Keeler, Caminiti, Garcia and Shoenmaker important too!

Now that all the lists have been settled and Hayes has a niggle in November, he should be delisted immediately so we can draft someone in nine months.

Re: Best teams
What is the point of keeping Hayes? He has played 4 games in 2 years and apparently is injured again. And it won't be 9 months. There is the SSP draft coming up. If his current injury is serious it is better to get rid of him now and pick a smokey that is not injury prone!!!King Max wrote: ↑Fri 01 Dec 2023 2:25pmGood plan.NickyDal wrote: ↑Tue 28 Nov 2023 8:39pmIf this is true then put a line through him. You mentioned mid season draft which is about 7 months away.NickyDal wrote: ↑Sat 02 Dec 2023 12:40pmWhat is the point of keeping Hayes? There is no such thing as an SSP draft.

Hastie is pencil thin so will need to get an AFL ready body…can see why you’re a fan though!D.B.Cooper wrote: ↑Tue 28 Nov 2023 7:30am Not the best team, but the team I’d love to see force their way into round one with some young players forcing existing players out of the line up.
Wilkie Battle Howard
Hastie NWM Sinclair
Wood Crouch Henry
Marshall Steele Owens
Hill Butler Collard
King Phillipou Sharman
Higgins Wilson Windhager Keeler
Sub: Clark
EMG: Dow, Jones, Ross, Membrey, Webster,
# Elite run and kicking out of the back half
# Pace, running power & pressure through the middle and forward half
# I really wanted Daddy Cool (Ross Wilson) on the bench
Probably not going to happen, but I’d love to see the very talented Keeler, Collard & Wilson have some game time early.
I think the smokie from the new kids might be Angus Hastie, has the size, all the attributes RTB loves and is the type that may blossom really quickly in an elite training environment.

Re: Best teams
From the trade and draft sticky thread, posted a few weeks back. Yes it's not 'technically' a draft, but we are free to select players to add to our list if there is an LTI to do so.
bobmurray wrote: ↑Thu 23 Nov 2023 9:06pm THE AFL has written to clubs to confirm the pre-season supplemental selection period (SSP) rules for this summer.
Clubs have been advised the SSP will commence at 9am AEDT on Monday, November 27 and run across the pre-season before the deadline at 5pm AEDT on Monday, February 19.
(Not that the SSP matters to the Saints with a full list, unless disaster strikes and we get an LTI during the SSP time frame).
Not sure what happens regards covering for injuries if the TPP is already maxed out.

Here’s my team…
B: Webster, Wilkie, Wood
HB: Battle, Phillipou, Milera
C: Henry, Sinclair, Hill
HF: Butler, Caminiti/Cordy/Hayes, Owens
F: Higgins, King, Membrey
Foll: Marshall, Steele, Crouch
Int: Wilson, Clark, Dow, Jones
Sub/emg: Windhager/Byrnes/Howard
I just think going back for Pou will be great and allow him to use his long kick.
Keeping the backline small, particularly against average teams. Having Sinclair in the middle gives him the flexibility to go back or stay forward.

Re: Best teams
Only for those teams, bring a Howard type in.
There aren't too many teams with so many talls.
In the end, most inside 50s are rebounded. So, it will be like having a weapon on the rebound.

Nearly every team has two power forwards
Why is Mason Wood in a back Pocket??
Why is Phillipou playing a a key back??
Strange

I get the impression that more Mason Cox types- tall lanky types who pinch it as forwards and as rucks will be added to teams too. So I think height and reach is definitely needed down back

Re: Best teams
Let be honest non of us have any clue at this time of year, but we dont have anything better to do so here we go:
Stocker Wilkie Howard
NWM Battle Sinclair
Wood Dow Henry
Marshall Steele Owens
Hill King Phillipou
Butler Hayes Sharman
Wilson Windhager Crouch, Clark, Jones
EMG: Bonner, Membrey, Webster, Higgins
I could make another 10 changes, if I sit here any longer

The only prediction I will make is that unlike most others on this forum, I pick that Seb will be in the starting 23, unless injured.

I reckon Hayes and Butler may struggle to play again
I reckon Butler couldn’t kick over a tin can in the final because his ankle was shot
It’s his third operation now
I wonder
Hayes chronically injured won’t play
King won’t be ready
You have 8 imports in the starting 18!
It’s fun to speculate- sadly perhaps

I like him as a player, however at AFL level he’s a bit slow, added to that he’s too small to compete against the many bigger ruckman.

It’s very difficult to pick a Sandy team, as there’s often a few players picked as emergencies for the senior side that don’t play at all.
There’ll be sever Sandy listed players that play regularly also!
