Re: Assistant Coaching changes
We must have given up on developing the game on high half forwards and running backs and recruited some 2 way running midfielders.

Re: Assistant Coaching changes
Interesting. I'm keen to see how Goddard develops the midfield strategies and if it makes us more potent around stoppages..

Re: Assistant Coaching changes
Interesting changes, hope BJ goes all right at it.
Goddard will also take on the position as St Kilda Academy Head Coach, taking over from Nick Dal Santo.

How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?

I think it's great for both of them to learn and develop new skills. It'll help their growth and benefit the club

Re: Assistant Coaching changes
Probably more a reflection on the type of players just recruited recently, and the specific skills they will need to play in the big boys game.
Goddard is getting developed, more likely.

Re: Assistant Coaching changes
I like it, no adverse reflection on Lenny, but BJ is a far more aggressive individual and may well take that characteristic into how he wants the midfield to play.
In many ways midfield as the engine room of the team is the most crucial coaching role at a club.
I was hoping to read that Robert Harvey was shifted away from forwards coach role but perhaps if BJ succeeds in training the mids to improve delivery of the ball into the forward 50 the forwards might achieve a better scoring average.

Re: Assistant Coaching changes
For me it further sets the tone that development (coach and player, but mostly player development) is more important than gameday.
I'm all for it.

Or how to have elite standards
Most professional player I’ve seen - hardest trainer!
He was a training animal!!!
But coaching - probably not
I love the way Dal coaches

Re: Assistant Coaching changes
I thought a few years back Nick was being talked up as a potential board member, maybe that might be a better fit.
Personally I like seeing some ex players back involved.

Re: Assistant Coaching changes
One thing I like about the current crop of coaches…
If there’s a theme between them all… it’s that they were all borderline maniacal in their training and preparations. One can’t help but feel that that’s the type of culture that they would all promote and that most likely, that type of attitude has been missing from the club until recently over the last decade or so

Is it entirely possible that you and CQ Saint could just quietly fvck off from this forum and go settle your grievances elsewhere? It's (a) tiresome (b) boring and also (c) no one gives a sh1t about your tit-for-tat rubbishVortex wrote: ↑Tue 28 Nov 2023 4:46pmAnd with honours from the happy clappers society.CQ SAINT wrote: ↑Tue 28 Nov 2023 4:31pmYeah, it came with my rocket science phd.
