Re: Free second rounder
Whether proven right or wrong we have a strategy and it is obviously to bring in guys with serious wheels.
Henry, O’Connell, Wilson and Collard can all run (from what I have seen/read).
I wonder if we’ll grab more runners or bring in a tall or two tomorrow night.

Re: Free second rounder
Nice bonus getting a F2 back for nothing.
And trading up to early second round this year.
Still half a dozen well rated players available
Good going so far....I reckon most of those traded out needed to go.

So we get Henry for nothing on that basis. Just hope Teake GWS jumped us for … good outcome regardless if Henry any good.

Re: Free second rounder
A very under rated move IMO, F2 has plenty of currency along with 2 remaining F3s

Nice…unless Teake goes on to be the next Buddy Franklin.

Re: Free second rounder
An underrated coup by Silvagni on draft night. Our focus was midfield run, we got our guy and we got a 2024 second rounder thrown in. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. That's a very nice gift and puts us in a much stronger position in next year's draft. Strangely, not much notice was taken of it by the TV presenters.

Re: Free second rounder
Good luck to him, but I can't see how a 187cm half forward/half back utility would even get an opportunity in our side with its current mix.

Re: Free second rounder
St Kilda gets pick 42. Melbourne gets a future third.
St Kilda gets pick 27. Gold Coast gets picks 40 and 42.
GWS gets pick 17. St Kilda gets pick 18 and a future second.
Net trade is an upgrade from 40 to 27 in this draft, and an upgrade from a future 3rd (tied to us, I think) to a future second (tied to Adelaide), for a downgrade of 1 pick to allow GWS to take Leake.

Tall Defender I am picking = Ollie Murphy Sandringham Dragons.D.B.Cooper wrote: ↑Mon 20 Nov 2023 11:23pmWhether proven right or wrong we have a strategy and it is obviously to bring in guys with serious wheels.

Geelong has a pick before us so they might grab him but seeing the Cats drafted Connor Sullivan the need for a key defender might not be so great for them.

Yes I think we pick best available KPD with our next pick.

Re: Free second rounder
Don’t ask me why but I thought the same thing.
Kind of makes the trade that bit more perplexing if they weren’t fighting for what they thought was a Buddy Franklin

Re: Free second rounder
We've done well so far.
I think we should try to trade in another pick somewhere between 30-40 by trading out a future pick.
So that we can pick an athletic key defender such as Zane Zakostelsky aswell as a strong midfielder such as George Stevens

Re: Free second rounder
Did we con GWS into thinking we were going to take him?
We must have said to GWS that we are going to pick him, do you want to trade up to get him?

Re: Free second rounder
I actually think GWS would have called that bluff. Would have been "we have a trade offer on the table (something like a future 1st) and we're taking the best one".Life Long Saint wrote: ↑Tue 21 Nov 2023 12:07pmDid we con GWS into thinking we were going to take him?

Re: Free second rounder
It’s hard to tell… based on the timing, it certainly seems like they traded to get him. Maybe it was the case that we really were going to get him but had Wilson more or less or par with him.Otiman wrote: ↑Tue 21 Nov 2023 12:32pmI actually think GWS would have called that bluff.
