Re: Mass exodus
I hope you are correct Mike as he seems a ripping kid, just can't see a club handing a place to a guy who is purely an inside mid and is an average (at best) runner.
I think this type of player unless they are exceptional, are really on the nose with clubs at the moment.
Hence why RTB obviously rates a Byrnes over Bytel when IMO Bytel is clearly the superior natural footballer, but Byrnes can really run.

Re: Mass exodus
It's a fair call, that makes 8 players at least.
Clark and Jones were line ball by the look of things....I think it bears out the OP

Re: Mass exodus
I was very surprised by these three
Hunter Clark - not resigned until mid point of trade season
Zak Jones - thought he was done
McKenzie - thought he was off as a DFA rookie to GC
Membrey I wasn’t sure on
Whatever the issue was this year was shrouded in secrecy (fair enough) so very hard to know?

As Grant Thomas has said on a couple of occasions - we really needed shock treatment. I think we are on the right track.

Re: Mass exodus
Bassett being in charge still worries me, hoping he is a full time president these days and not just a fan that swallows any BS fed to him. Worries me that his fix for the club was just to hand the keys to Ross and tell him to enjoy the ride. It would be repeating the same problem over 150 years if that's all that has happened.

Re: Mass exodus
There is no such thing as a full time president
He has a full time job
Board members are unpaid, basically volunteers

Re: Mass exodus
Yes I'm aware of that however you will recall Bassett being very busy with aquaistuons, mergers and restructuring in his business dealings and clearly didn't have the time to be a president of any capacity and was merely a fan turning up on match day and had abdicated his responsibilities to less than duly competent footy people.
I have been banging on for years that the board is cluttered with sycophants that only represent self interest and that the board needs more football competent people.
We need a Leigh Mathews type on the board, and that's just for starters.

Re: Mass exodus
Who could disagree with the gist of GT’s sentiments here.
1) mediocre - showed patches, but a consistent effort, solid core? Sadly lacking
2) need a radical change
Thank goodness Bassat and co had the review and pushed the button
Ratts was co but the whole place was soft and divided into different agendas and generally ‘soft’ from the vewpoint of a clueless fan thousands of miles away! That’s all I can say.

Looks like his thing was coaching and he may have lost his motivation and does quite well out writing fluff pieces and lending his vote to others.
When was that article written.10 years ago. I guess the math don't lie. How are Brisbane going, oh Michael Voss is back coaching too. Wow.
