How does Peris get a tick when he wasn't listed by BM?

Is the critique the information accuracy or the number of players exiting?
I see. You want posters to accurately name all players being traded/delisted/requesting-to-be-traded at least 2 months before trade period.
Not at all, just commenting retrospectively on the accuracy.

Like you I think topics like these create interest and activity.

For the record I’m interested to know what number constitutes a mass exodus as we seem to turn over 9 players per season fairly consistently only 2022 under that number in the last 4 seasons.

2022
Hannebery, Geary, Ryder, Long, Joyce, Kyle, Lienart
2021
Dunstan, Lonie, Roberton, Frawley, Kent, McKernan, Clavarino, Hunter, Alabakis
2020
Carslile, Savage, Brown, Austin, Abbott, Phillips, Parker, Hind, Marsh, Langlands, Mayo
2019
Steven, Acres, Newness, Longer, Armitage, Bruce, White, McCartin, Rice, Young, Rowe

I rate him higher than Ben MacKay who I rate as a spud.

SPUD.

I reckon we get at least one more year out of Dougs, blood Van Es and see if he's the man.

Surely better than Ratugolea who is attracting pick 24.

I think it's more about who the players are as much as it is the number, we've pushed out a group of players who were not that long ago considered part of our premiership contending core.

I have been saying since Lyon took over that he was clearly given a mandate to rebuild and that our list will look completely different in 2 to 3 years time.

I thought Lyon was brought in because the review suggested THIS list was under performing

Not to do a rebuild

Why, if your concerns for this year are correct, we have been rebuilding every two or so years based on the number of list changes.

We've ploughed through 3 coaches and nearly 2 full squads of players in 10 years and played finals twice in the last 4 years.

I think the bloke in charge might actually know what he is doing.

Just a little bit of both actually, Lyon came in and stated that 2023 would be a year of exploration where he would be able to assess the players on the list and determine who in his opinion is going to make the grade and those who are not.

The fact that at least four players who's time was up have only been given another year to prove themselves suggests that Lyon is not yet convinced they have a long term future at Moorabbin. Likewise Nick Coffield, who's contract offer has not been revealed, probabky decided he would get better opportunities with Footscray.

Jade Gresham being offered substantally less money than his previous contract and signing with Essendon another sign that Lyon believes he's not essential to the team's further progression up the ladder in 2024 and beyond.

Talk of Dougal Howard being moved on, as with Hunter Clark last year, has never been substantiated.

The four players who have been delisted were obviously considered below AFL standard, much like most other teams have done in recent weeks.

So in reality the club is simply tweaking the list to bring in higher quality talent, neither a mass exodus nor a major rebuild....the thing that I firmly believe will eventuate is a red hot off-season fitness drive and pre-season training sessions that will prepare this list like never before, because that's what is required to consolidate a place in the top four next year!

Coffield and Gresham want out. You need to ask why?
I actually feel sorry for Billings but him wanting to leave is completely irrelevant. He is cooked.

Looks to me like this off season player turnover is in the range of pretty standard St Kilda average numbers, particularly in comparison to the receent Richo years where mass exodi was more common.

END OF SEASON DEPARTURES

2022 - 7 players
Hannebery, Geary, Ryder, Long, Joyce, Kyle, Lienart

2021 - 9 players
Dunstan, Lonie, Roberton, Frawley, Kent, McKernan, Clavarino, Hunter, Alabakis

2020 - 11 players = mass exodi
Carslile, Savage, Brown, Austin, Abbott, Phillips, Parker, Hind, Marsh, Langlands, Mayo

2019 - 11 players = mass exodi
Steven, Acres, Newness, Longer, Armitage, Bruce, White, McCartin, Rice, Young, Rowe

2018 - 11 players = mass exodi
Hickey, Freeman, Longer, Gilbert, Goddard, Stevens, Wright, Connellan, Minchington, Pierce, Weller

By your theory we rebuilt in 2018, 2019, 2020 & potentially 2021.

4 year contract suggests rebuild.

Comments made by Lyon include:

"Our TPP is equal to Geelongs but without the flag"

"Gil told me not to be in a hurry and take the time to rebuild"

And the comment in his pressure after the loss in the final about "clearly we are rebuilding."

Being done very covertly so as to not scare the sponsors and members away.

A tough couple of seasons ahead though, don't think we will see finals for the next season or two.

Bloody hard for us to rebuild. Our memberships and sponsorships are heavily results based.

We cannot afford more than 2 years in the bottom 4 whilst we rebuild, and if that is the expected case we should be trading out players of value in the 26+ age bracket right now.

Is it that hard?
Coffield hasn’t played in 2 years - no guarantees he’ll get back to his best (was dropped in 2021 for poor form) and we gave HBF AA sitting there ….not sure he was the answer and is slow as treacle…
Gresham = wants $$ not hard also wants to “play at big club on G” see ya Jade no loss imo

That’s not a prediction- it’s a fact?!

Jade Gresham is at Essendon as a RFA pick 21 Compo
Nick Coffield will be a Bulldog for pick 40
Jack Billings wants out- we will take anything for him, even pay his wage.
McKenzie will maybe go to GC as a DFA

Hunter really surprised me - but that’s good
Howard is probably going to stay, but will get a nibble and if the trade is good enough - gone
Paton might get a late trade for a late pick
Membrey - god knows?
Allison should be delisted!
Highmore??

Bytel - Gone
Adams - Gone
Connolly - Gone
Peris - Gone

BM. When you delist players, thye leave your list.
When players want to leave, they say I want to leave but if no one wants them, it isn't a bad reflection on the club.

We have put millions of $$ in to Gresham, Billings and Coffield pockets for a very poor return. That's a fact.

So far the players with options really had no option.
