That said there are multiple ways to play the wing role and its possible Woods form was enabled by Hills supporting run.

Pure possession numbers aren't everything.

If you just look at stats then Brad Crouch should have nearly won the medal, but he didn't.

I remember some of the voting on the Saintsational Player of the year being quite different to how the coaches saw things (with voting in the Coaches Association Award).

Jack Steele, Josh Battle and Brad Hill were among the best players for us in the final.

The votes they earned probably pushed them past Mason Wood

look at Intercepts, rebound d50, i50 entries, whether they hit 20ppg and 6+ marks
Goals also important for a winger over half a gpg is desirable

Here's a sample of Mason Wood toward the middle and latter parts of the year. He is a very important player in our team.

As mentioned, his running is both ways and his defensive efforts and spoils have assisted our KP defenders who are probably among the shortest in the game.

Wood is also a good connecter. His score involvements and inside 50 count is usually very good. He probably gets 60-65% of his possessions as uncontested.

That's one third of all his possessions being turnovers

I think if he improves his disposal efficiency (and reduces his turnovers) he will be an even better player for us...no doubt
