Re: Keep Coffield
2 is actually good for Coff.
It takes him to free agency which is the first opportunity for a real pay day.

Re: Keep Coffield
It’s actually going to be an anxiety filled 2 years for Coff, in essence he’s only got 2 years to prove his body is capable of AFL football and based on his severe lack of value for a number 8 DP thus far he really needs to play at least 40 games over the 2 years to save his career first and foremost before he’s looking for the big pay day.nostalgicsaint wrote: ↑Fri 29 Sep 2023 7:24am2 is actually good for Coff.

Here’s hoping his body can stand up to task so we can get a real look at where he might fit into the team.

Re: Keep Coffield
Offering 2 years to a guy who hasn’t played AFL in two seasons is a huge show of faith by the club.
Hopefully he signs back on and gets a better run at it in 2024.

Re: Keep Coffield
Who are North Melbourne NOT chasing?
As always
Last year it was Clark, this year Clark and Coffield.
It is not as if Brett is still at North Melbourne, having returned to Hawthorn.

Looks like Coffield has nominated Western Bulldogs.
Bummer! I hope I am wrong about him being a future star

Surely match and force trade. Robbery if he goes for nothing. Can’t imagine he’s on big coin.

Re: Keep Coffield
The median years to get past 50 games for a player drafted between pick 5 and 10 is 5 years.
Which Coffield achieved.
Hardly a fail. Bang on average.

and what do the statistics say about them also playing in a premiership?nostalgicsaint wrote: ↑Thu 05 Oct 2023 8:32pmThe median years to get past 50 games for a player drafted between pick 5 and 10 is 5 years.

Or do the players who take 5 years to reach 50 games only play for the teams well outside the bottom 8.
Bang on average for sure if you have taken 5 years to reach 50 games...average doesn't win flags.

Re: Keep Coffield
What will we get for Coffield, a 3rd rounder and a Maccas voucher ?
How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?

Given a pick from 5 to 10 means you've finished at best 8th.....
Every single thing that happens isn't a proof point that the club is in terrible shape.
Why do some supporters think it is helpful to sink the boots into the club for decisions made 5+ years ago?
About the only criticism I could level at the club is letting him come out of contract but given the club is in a transition phase it is understandable.

Re: Keep Coffield
No loss. Earnt ridiculous money last couple of years.
Don’t blame him for going as career on a knifes edge and couldn’t see him in best 22 next year.

Re: Keep Coffield
I'm not criticising the club, my original point is 50 games in 6 seasons is a fail, the club is doing the right thing in thanking him for his services as he departs.nostalgicsaint wrote: ↑Thu 05 Oct 2023 8:57pmVortex wrote: ↑Thu 05 Oct 2023 8:39pmand what do the statistics say about them also playing in a premiership?nostalgicsaint wrote: ↑Thu 05 Oct 2023 8:32pmThe median years to get past 50 games for a player drafted between pick 5 and 10 is 5 years.

the time has come to churn players over who haven't made an impact within 2 years.

Re: Keep Coffield
He may get a couple of good years going forward ,good luck to him but is a massive failure as Vortex said ..he's no super star he needs to go forward and make hay as the sun shines I hope his body hangs in there .We as a club don't need him ...and he needs to grow as an individual and play great footy from here on end the ball is in his court . We hardly new him really.
