Billings wants out

Terrific! Too bad to he didn’t request a trade when he actually had currency

Fair enough. He's been treated like s***. Maybe Essendon will take him.

In what way was he poorly treated this year magnifisaint?

I have long consdered him no more than just a fringe player and has never really had an impact when he's been in the team, it's likely the selectors felt the same way.

Just needs a suitor.
Alrighty then.
Cart, horse? Someone must have tugged his sleeve.
Would be great at Suns. Best mate plays for North.
Where does the truth lie?
Is he getting any faster.

I think his currency would have gone up this year by virtue of not being played much.

I guess he's worth a late 2nd round selection.

I always thought he had a lot of talent. He was impacted by injuries this year and I don't think he was given a fair go. Ross certainly plays favourites.

It'll be the full stop on the disaster that was the 2013 draft and trade period.

We lost Nick Dal Santo, Ben McEvoy and picks 25, 41, 48 & 77.

For Shane Savage, Luke Delaney, Billy Longer, Josh Bruce and picks 18 & 19.

We selected Billings at 3, Dunstan at 18 and Acres at 19. Bontempelli went at 4, Patrick Cripps at 13.

The picks we gave away could've turned into Zach Merrett, Jake Kolodjashnij & Darcy Byrne-Jones.

We selected Eli Templeton (ahead of Charlie Cameron) and Mav Weller in the rookie draft.

Ten years on, all but three of those players have retired. Four were traded. Billings is all that remains.

Billings managed three top 10 finishes in the B&F, his best being a 4th in 2019. Weller finished top ten twice, Dunstan, Delaney & Bruce once each.

Only Billings played in a winning final for St Kilda.

Surely, you jest! He got a sweet deal with his last contract. He must be amongst the highest paid players in the VFL!

I think the fact that Phillipou and Byrnes were preferred before him unde rall circumstances, despite form, sent the message to Jack that he is not in RTBs plans.

I feel a bit sorry for him to be honest. Should have been given a go towards the end of the year, bad luck with injury before the season began.

Billings is a better footballer than Ginnivan and Lipinski. He will find a home if he really wants to go.

Great news, hope he goes ok at his next club, whoever that may be.

Think we'd be making a mistake to let Billings leave St Kilda.

He has a touch of class, and good disposl, which we desperately need. Reminds me a bit of Dal Santo.

He's had a wretched run with injuries, and if fully fit , properly engaged and used correctly is a regular in our team.

If RTB really is a good coach, he should find a way to get the best out of Billings.

He's worth keeping, but don't pay overs and don't give him a contract just to sit in the VFL for the rest of his career.

If he isn't interested in staying, trade him out even for a 4th rounder.

I believe he is already contracted for next season, so if he wants to leave he needs to be traded. Whichever Club his manager does a deal with will need to provide a trade that we will accept

Personally I don’t agree.

He’s contracted and has taken the money.

We don’t get a good offer… let him stay, work his butt off and contribute something. Guy has serious talent and should be on the top 22. There’s no anti JB sentiment… he needs to do the work

Billings is another player recruited in the 2010's that should have been a very good player, but like many young St.Kilda talent during that period were never properly developed.
I remember that game against the Bulldogs where we came back from miles behind and Billings was one if the main reasons we did because he tore them apart in the 2nd half.
Acres was another one and we saw what he did for Carlton during the finals.
Gresham is another player, heaps of talent and potential, but not fully developed.
Fortunately with NWM, Phillipou and NWM, we seemed to have learned our lesson.

Think of me long enough to make a memory.

The game back in his second or third year when he was pinging them from outside 50 was brilliant (2 or 3 were touched off the foot unfortunately).

Absolutely crucified this season

Pigeon holed and sitting behind less able players

How The Fk Phillipou played ahead of him is beyond me?!

If Billings or any other player had the output of Phillipou we’d have the pitchforks out!!!

Cut our nose off to spite our face!!!

Laughable really

The risk is he doesn't do the work, which is a disservice to himself, the club, and his teammates.

The guy doing the announcing at the Trevor Barker Medal was 'celebrating' the fact that Pou played all games this year.

I mean, it's great that he is a talented kid who trains well and does his recovery well, and he put on the jumper for all 24 games....but what did it achieve?

I think he played his worst football for the last 3 games of the year.

I would have preferred that he was freshened up and managed late in the year. The physical aspect as well as the mental fatigue can't be underestimated.

I'm not sure if Billings or some other player would have ripped it up in his absence, but I think it would have helped to sharpen Pou's focus. Keep him hungry

The week off might have helped him play better in Round 24 before the Elimination Final.

Can’t run
Lyon wants run as Pies showed in GF
Good honest trier - nice safe kicks
Goes missing
FFS we can’t improve IF we keep players who won’t take us forwards AND who don’t want to be there
The fact no one is banging down our door ought to tell you something….
