Cauliflower 🆚 Brussels Sprouts
That’s the choice of the two teams for Saturday’s GF, as far as I’m concerned.
Like last year’s GF, I just can’t get myself to barrack for either team. The Filth for obvious reasons and Brisbane because I don’t like any of their players.
I just hope it’s a decent game to watch. A game that goes down to the wire, giving fans of both teams ulcers and then heartbreak for one of the fanbases.
What is your hope for the 2023 grand final?

Go Lions.
I'm hoping for a return of the Colliwobbles.

Re: Cauliflower 🆚 Brussels Sprouts
I actually would like Collingwood to win.
I have never had a problem with the club, I don't have the hatred for them that I do for Carlton, Essendon or Geelong.
Their supporters have a record of being a bit uncultured perhaps but the majority are good natured with a bit of a fatalistic streak somewhat like St Kilda supporters.
I also can't support Brisbane because they are not a real team, they are in Queensland and no one up there cares.
They also have no players that I can warm up to unlike the GWS, another fake team, who at least have Toby Green.

Would you rather see happy obnoxious Collingwod supporters, or sad obnoxious Collingwood supporters?

Re: Cauliflower 🆚 Brussels Sprouts
Cauliflower and Brussell Sprouts pretty well sums it up. I have never been a fan of either. Broccoli, when I was a kid, was served up by Mum as a soggy mess, devoid of any dark green colour.
Over the years i have mellowed as I learnt to tolerate broccoli (steamed and crisp). Collingwood, under McRae's guidance, has become less like cauliflower and brussell sprouts and more like steamed broccoli. Tolerable, only just. The defence reminds me of St Kilda on a good day and their ability to adopt team defence and play selfless football over the past two years has made them consistently the best team in the comp. They certainly have been this year and deserve to win.
Not that I will be barracking for them, that would be like seeing the Pope hanging out in Kings Cross. The end. But I won't lose any sleep if they win.

Easy Brisbane - old Fitzroy link which still burns as if had of been 10 years earlier could have been us.
Now if Carlton had of won it would have been an afternoon at the movies.

Re: Cauliflower 🆚 Brussels Sprouts
Is it possible for both teams to lose.
I dislike that runt of a brians coach but don't mind the filth coach so it's the filth for me.
I know, I will take a nice long hot shower after the game.

Sad
I hope it's not close. Hope they're team gets obliterated and they are miserable all summer.
Last thing I want to hear over the next 3 months is how 'unlucky' they were

Definitely on the Lions bandwagon, Fages coached me back in the day in Tassie and he’s great fella.

Re: Cauliflower 🆚 Brussels Sprouts
If you put olive oil and herbs and spices on brussels sprouts and then bake them in the oven for an hour or so, they taste absolutely terrific.
If you do the same for cauliflower, it tastes better than it otherwise would, but still not that great IMO.
I like the way the cauliflower team plays under McRae, but at the end of the day it's still cauliflower. So I'm going for the brussels sprouts.

Re: Cauliflower 🆚 Brussels Sprouts
Not as bad as 2005 when we missed on making the GF after the Sydney debacle.
I took the family to the zoo that day.
Didn't feel like watching a low scoring defensive slugfest.
At least this game involves two teams that play very watchable footy.

Re: Cauliflower 🆚 Brussels Sprouts
Because of Eddie McQuire, who is the same age as me, has a similar world point of view, and has been incredibly successful in his life, I hope Collingwood fail. It just hurts too much.
#jealousy, resentful,
lol
But come game day, I will probably be a ‘swinging voter’ as the game progresses.

If Collingwood were playing Afghanistan, I would be barracking for Afghanistan.
Go Lions.

Rugby League would have to be the stupidest, most moronic and over rated game of all time.

Bloody hell SCS, you obviously don't know Queenslanders, they love AFL and has a really strong following in RL heartland.SinCitySainter wrote: ↑Thu 28 Sep 2023 10:10am I actually would like Collingwood to win.

As a Bribanenite and dyed in the wool Saints member for more than 40 years I can't stand the Lions, but I'll be barracking for them to beat Collingwood.
Should be a terrific game between the two teams that are clearly the best this year, well matched but I think the Lions will overcome their poor record at the MCG and be too strong all over the ground - 'Zorko The Pest' will get the job of keeping Nick Daicos out of the game....

Re: Cauliflower 🆚 Brussels Sprouts
Can confirm nobody in Brisbane cares. They barely care about the Broncos in the GF. State of Origin gets people excited, but that's it.
Sport here is not part of the core culture like it is in Melbourne - that is unique in the world outside of EPL fans.
You definitely have your die hard fans, but most people wouldn't be able to spot Lachie Neale in a lineup. Many locals couldn't name a league player other than Darren Lockyer. The local radio station couldn't even remember his name the morning after the Brownlow.

Re: Cauliflower 🆚 Brussels Sprouts
Dislike both teams but hate Collingwood more.
It might be a good game.
Last year was worse.
It will be a hot day so all the hysterical stop oil loons and net zero crazies can jump up and down about how we’re all going to burn in hell.
It was much hotter day for the 1987 grand final.

Re: Cauliflower 🆚 Brussels Sprouts
Consider it the beginning of a decline for the loser.
Can you imagine Ginnivan being in a premiership side.
Umpires surely can't pay him any too high fees after letting Daicos decapitate T. Greene last week - that rule is out for this year.
There will be a lot of interesting one on ones. Pendlebury tagging Neale or Mc Luggage. Zorko annoying DeGoey, Hipwood licking his lips at the Frampton sellection, Noble's dad saying: John go play for the Saints, if Ginnivan and Lipinsky get picked ahead of you there is no hope.

If the umpires are broccoli they would be my three favourite vegetables - and very good for the bowels.

Re: Cauliflower 🆚 Brussels Sprouts
Feel like after hitting the lead late the Lions choked.
Leaving DeGoey on his own at the top of 50, then that bloke giving away a stupid 50m penalty to Sidebottom for no reason.
Then not manning up in the last minute
