Josh docking and Will Nish are the top age main prospects this year. Docking, an outside mid with good foot skills, is a possibility to be picked, most likely as a rookie.

Shiel will be 31 (as of Round 1) and hasnt played a full season since 2019 !!!!!! Maybe was a good player, but certainly long past his prime.

Honestly will a 31 year old (from a different club) be part of StKildas next premiership? I would love to say 2024 is our year, but I am not a realist and would think 2025-2027 will be our peak. There are only 3 over 33 year old playing this week (Pendelbury, Ward, Zorko out of ~3 currently listed out of 180 listed players).

Sorry I disagree. Hill is a wingman, playing him out of position has proven to be a disaster.

I agree that when Ratts played him in various roles it wasnt successful. Most of that was due to team structure AND what appeared to be a personal matter that affected Hill.

We saw his potential running more forward in '23. Id be keen to see him receive & carry from the 50, even crumb around the goals, throw ins and kick goals. He is better defending most times than Higgins & definitely a huge improvement on Gresh's defensive efforts ( zero 1%'s, dives, smothers, 2nd efforts).

Haven't read the HS article but very much doubt we would be giving a FRP for Shiel. More likely taking over Shiel's contract, giving Ess a late pick, and Ess bumping their offer for Gresham to generate a FRP for Saints.

The big plus is another FRP (13). Shiel only steak knives.

Innovative & makes sense, but it is a Herald Sun article after all, and whether the AFL would approve is doubtful. Unlikely I think.

I think you'll find that Hill tried to make a difference before this year but time and time again he wasn't supported by Ratten game plan because Ratt's didn't seem to understand what was required - No-one was running with him and too few providing leads when he was in a tight spot, so much so that by the end of Ratt's tenure Hill's body language clearly stated he had all but given up.

Lose - Shiel


To be the 1st round compo I think we have to take Shiel rather than him being the target.

Unless the deal is we don't get his salary because Essendon supposedly have a lot of room in their cap.
So if the deal was we get Shiel for Gresham and room in our cap it might make sense.

I don't agree with it as I think Shiel is not the player we want or need.
