Dullbogs sniffing around Coffield
https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/how ... 5e3wn.html
"A second club – the Western Bulldogs – has expressed interest in hard-luck St Kilda defender Nick Coffield, one of a number of Saints whose future is in limbo.
Brisbane also inquired about the out-of-contract Coffield, the No.8 pick in the 2017 draft who has not played at AFL level since 2021 due to an ACL setback and then persistent calf issues.
The sight of Nick Coffield in action on an AFL field has been all too rare for St Kilda fans.

The 23-year-old made it back for four VFL games late in the season, averaging 23 disposals, six marks and eight rebound 50s, and is one of a number of out-of-contract players on the Bulldogs’ radar, including promising Lion Kai Lohmann.
Rivals believe fellow Saints Hunter Clark and the contracted Jack Billings (2025) and Dougal Howard (2024) are also attainable. St Kilda are keen to invest in the draft, but none of this group is likely to score them a high-end selection."
Billings – who coach Ross Lyon views as a forward only – has mild interest elsewhere and would ideally like to move on after playing only three senior games this season, but key defender Howard seems more likely to stay.
Zak Jones, Jimmy Webster, Daniel McKenzie, Liam Stocker and Ryan Byrnes are also without a deal beyond this year. Restricted free agent Jade Gresham’s future is also uncertain, particularly given it is highly unlikely the Saints would receive first-round compensation for him.
Gresham has been linked to Essendon for some time, and The Age confirmed on Monday they are in the hunt for the talented forward. He is keen to play for a big club, according to sources familiar with his intentions."
If our list is as shitty as some claim, how come every man and even his dog are sniffing around, Coffied, Billings, Clark, Gresham and Howard.
I will tell you something though.
Our list will really actually be shitty if we let all of those 5 players go,

Re: Dullbogs sniffing around Coffield
Has he been happy about the clubs resources surrounding conditioning and rehabilitation? have some players been unhappy with that aspect of the club and the change over of coaches and Lyons pre season pushing some players beyond their conditioning?
Coff wanting out is not ideal

Yeah if you saw Bains and a snake coming towards you who would you trust?
In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

I use to work with the mother of Coffield best mate when they were both at northern knights. She said Coffield was one of the laziest players she ever seen and was extremely arrogant. If that is the case then Ross probably sees through that and wants him gone.

Re: Dullbogs sniffing around Coffield
I saw an interview with David Cunningham of Carlton last night and it reminded me of Coffield with his ACL and then all the calf injury issues. David says he's worked out a management plan to prevent the calf strains from reoccurring.
Also, another bloke from Carlton who missed a lot of footy is back playing.

I imagine he has learned humility and the essentiality of hard work if he wants to stay an AFL footballer.TheGreatZacsby wrote: ↑Wed 13 Sep 2023 3:17pm I use to work with the mother of Coffield best mate when they were both at northern knights. He was a pick 8, Wilkie a rookie. Go figure.
Hope he comes good, huge potential.

Re: Dullbogs sniffing around Coffield
My dad and I met Coff and his family when he was drafted to us as the draft that year was held up here in Sydney. He was one of the nicest kids you could have met and definitely did not come across as arrogant. In fact, he came across as very humble.

Re: Dullbogs sniffing around Coffield
Crikey. Coff has given us nothing for two years and wants out. That's a bit harsh on us. We surely don't want to lose all these players for essentially what looks like relative peanuts?

"the mother of the best mate"....now that is breaking new ground for ITK mail, I don't think I've seen that lineage before.TheGreatZacsby wrote: ↑Wed 13 Sep 2023 3:17pm I use to work with the mother of Coffield best mate when they were both at northern knights. most of my inside knowledge comes from my mother's best mate's husband's daughter's uncle's nephew's childhood best mate.

Re: Dullbogs sniffing around Coffield
Why am I not surprised the Dullbogs are sniffing around?
Obviously they want to pick up a potentially elite player for a song. I'll be p1ssed off if it happens and I think ultimately the rest of the club will be, too.

Re: Dullbogs sniffing around Coffield
Something was a bit ‘off’ with Coffield when he came back from injury the first time. Along with Paton I thought he might be elite. More than Paton actually.
Now if he has an attitude problem and/or if his calf muscle is already getting to be problematic, I don’t mind home leaving. That calf will be back ! Hannas, DMac, JB and Towball Jonesy are enough!

Re: Dullbogs sniffing around Coffield
I love this selective criteria you apply to some players.
Apply to Ross? No because he’s not a defender I guess. As mid though I guess missing a critical goal from 49m directly in front is a not negotiable… I don’t remember you ripping into him about that though.
How ever so odd
