Would have been nice to see Bytel get 5-6 games in a row.

Unfortunately, he got injured every time he was in good form and he sabotaged his own ability to be selected
Scollop you are still on the Bytel train? You’ve missed it… time to get on another train. I saw your posts about Liam Henry and you are spot on. Jump on that and don’t look back. Bytel is a dud.

I’m not the one delisted by Ross the Boss…

I can’t wait for this part of the year. We clean out the trash our club has been for the past 10 years. Get in some good draft picks and traded player that will make Bytel look like s***, then you will come full circle and go OMG how amazing player A is and player B is! Can’t wait to say I told you so.

You make it sound like the club have found the magic trick for recruiting players guaranteed of becoming GF types, it's been 20 years since we had such luck.

Lyon is good but he ain't a magician.

Gresham would be the perfect replacement for Essendon's recently retired Anthony McD-T.
I can see Dodoro making a job saving bid for Gresh.

Peris surprises me. He was pretty good in his debut and I can see him ending up being a similar player to Butler.

Adams a little surprising also considering he's still so young and raw.

Bytel is very unlucky. Would have liked to see him get an extended run as a mid before discarding him.

Connolly was inevitable after he couldn't come close to senior selection recently. It's a shame because I thought he showed plenty early on.

Surely Highmore and McKenzie don't end up staying?

Bytel and Adams too injury prone
Peris I don't see as good enough for the grade

Leo Conolly is the disappointment for me. Speedy, great kick, aggressive, and by all report Goddard worked hard turning him into a legit midfielder.
Bad decision.

Connolly is a natural outside player more suited to half back. Great speed and foot skills, but unable to hold his own in a one on one contest due to lack of size and strength. Why they tried to develop him as a mid is beyond me. However, it did show that he was unsuited to the hard physical aspects of midfield craft. I suppose the coaches thought that if he was isolated in an AFL game against an opponent he would not be able to stand up.

Adams has good closing speed, but realistically he is erratic with ball in hand and doesn't read the game well. Doesn't have the body to play key position, nor the football smarts to be a running defender.

Bytel was unlucky not to have a decent run at it. Every time his opportunity came he got injured pretty much straight away. Ross Lyon is looking for more speed in the midfield and I think that's a big part of why Bytel was let go. To me, he's a similar player to Luke Dunstan. Maybe the coaches saw it that way, too.

Peris is stiff, in my view. Still very young, I thought with more development he'd be a chance to blossom. Played okay in his one AFL match, a better debut that Byrnes, Owens, and Windhager had. I hop he gets an opportunity elsewhere. Ross Lyon wants more speed, but the quickest player on the list just got shown the door. Maybe the assessment was that Peris just didn't have the footy smarts.

I must be weird, because I hate this part of the year, knowing that it will be another 5-6 months before I can watch my team play again.

Obviously I need to get with the program, because football these days is no longer about watching and enjoying the game.

Alternatively, I could conclude that you are a complete idiot. Think I'll go that way.

Leo is too light and not quite speedy and strong enough because he doesn't play like Toby Bedford, apparently.
Peris light and short. Is there a successful AFL player that small?
Now a hybrid of Leo and Jack Bytel might have worked.

SAINT’S TURNAROUND SET TO CONTINUE

St Kilda midfielder Hunter Clark is reportedly nearing a new deal with the club despite a failed trade request to North Melbourne last year.

Clark has come to the end of his current deal with the club, reportedly worth around $500,000 per season.

The Herald Sun reports Clark is closing in on a new deal after a solid season for the 24-year-old, who was a former top-10 draft pick.

Jade Gresham remains a fascinating out-of-contract figure at the club at 26 years of age.

While contracted, Jack Billings is also open to offers from rival clubs as he struggles to get back into the senior side under Ross Lyon.

The Age reported this week Essendon was a chance of securing Gresham if the mid-forward requested a trade.

Peris was already a rookie but a rookie B.
You can only have a max of 2 rookie Bs.
Liam O'Connell will be a rookie B so either Angus McLennan or Peris had to go or be upgraded.
Despite his speed Peris had the problem of being 178cm, on the short side, but that did prevent Joey have a good career.

Allison is lucky that he got a contract extension when he did.
Contracted until end of 2024.

The thing that I thought might help concussion in footy..

16 players on the field

3 players from each team forbidden to enter D50

3 players from each team under 180cm

Of course it is considered nuts
But if we continue to get bigger and bigger and faster and stronger there is only one likely conclusion - baring a hormone that turns the brain tissue into a plasma

So I’d say Peris is unlucky

The only way to stop player concussion is to have all 22/23 players sitting on the bench all game.
The umpires can determine the games outcome as they already do without the need for players on the ground.

What a spud he has been on the list for a few years now and struggles in the VFL in any position they play him.

If We wont Youth why get rid of 4 young guys I would have kept Peris I hope they rookie list him maybe see our final list and see if there is a place for him.

Adams was doing well as a KPP yes he was only 87kg but most young KPP at 19 are he was putting on weight and did get some good write ups by the VFL coaching staff so a bit of a surprise at 198cm was a good size, maybe try him forward as Keeler has done nothing.

Heath must be getting nervous as he has been on the list for a while now and is not making inroads to the AFL and is out of contract as well, I cart see him not being delisted with Highmore as well the turnover king.

You can have 3 Cat B Rookies. So it probably means that the Saints have in mind another as yet unamed player as a third Cat B Rookie for 2024. Possibly one of our NGA Squad Members.

"In addition to these six rookie-listed players, each club can include up to three additional players (now referred to as Category B rookies) on its Rookie List provided the player either:
• has not registered in an Australian Football competition for three years immediately before inclusion on the Rookie List;
• is an international player, meaning he is not an Australian citizen and has not lived in Australia for a substantial period;
• is a former NSW Scholarship player with that club;
• is a former International Scholarship player with that club;
• is a rookie Zone Selection for clubs based in NSW or Queensland"
