Re: Liam Henry
Gresham will walk as a FA - not a trade
End of second round Compo (pick 37-40)
That won’t get it done with Henry- they will want our FRDP

Re: Liam Henry
Cant let Gresh walk for that.
I would match whatever they bid on and force a trade unless its 700k+

Re: Liam Henry
End of second round already been mooted
He is not worth anymore
He’s a small forward, who’s had a dreadful year - why would he get a first round Compo?
And we will NOT match the offer - as he wants out!

Re: Liam Henry
If free agent it is all based around the deal he gets which determines what the compensation is. This is then adjusted to how many times the club pissed off the AFL during the year and what they are likely to bring in financially in the future

Re: Liam Henry
End of 2nd round has been mooted nowhere
That would be 3 years at 500
We would match that and force trade for pick 20-25 which gets Henry
Very easy really

Re: Liam Henry
On what information do you state Gresham wants out?
Is this actual information or is it just another Big Fart piss and wind opinion stated as fact?

Re: Liam Henry
Has he re-signed?
Would you like to have a guess why
Hint
It’s not because he wants to stay!

Re: Liam Henry
Acknowledged for a common opinion?
Sure. Well done.
Doesn't change the fact it isn't fact.
Back on Henry- you think we have no say in what we get for someone like coffield if he leaves but that we won't get Henry for a second rounder???
Henry has already said he wants to leave and is in the exact same contract situation and background as coffield.
So what's the difference besides one argument suiting your narrative?

Re: Liam Henry
OK, do you have taken a punt that you are correct and have stated your opinion as fact (again).
I’ll play to your ego and acknowledge it if you are proven correct, assuming you won’t have an issue acknowledging it if you are proven incorrect.

Re: Liam Henry
Henry won’t get FRDP
Neither will Gresham
My bet use Gresh compo to pay for Henry
Keep our first pick and whatever we get for Dougal in draft
Tomlinson linked to us could be handy while we wait on Van Es

Might as well keep Doug. He’s much better than Tomlinson.

Re: Liam Henry
Don’t think 11 would be mooted by either team. Was on a trajectory to be delisted at the beginning of the year and had a solid string of games after rd 11. I think 31 gets it done. He’s only a very marginal upgrade on Byrnes.B.M wrote: ↑Sun 10 Sep 2023 3:41pm We won’t get him for a second rounder - he was initially a pick 9
Played 4 years - just started coming into his own
They will want pick 11
BTW
On your last point
Mitch Owens was pick 33
Seb Ross pick 25
Josh Battle pick 38
Jimmy Webster pick 41
Ben Parton pick 46
Marcus Windhager pick 47
Ryan Byrnes pick 53

Re: Liam Henry
Yes Brunswick Saint - I think a few on here have only heard of Liam Henry over that past 8 - 9 weeks and think he’s the bees knees. It’s only of late he’s been starting to string a few good matches. As one of my Freo supporting friends, says, he’s decided to get his highlights package looking ok to get some teams interested. It’s taken a long while for him to knuckle down & develop. Maybe Lyon may get the best out of him & have him maintain his focus to be a senior playerBrunswicksainter wrote: ↑Mon 11 Sep 2023 2:34amDon’t think 11 would be mooted by either team. Most Freo supporters here in Perth aren’t too concerned he’s wanting out….. all they want is a team to pay overs for him!!
Major criticism of him from Freo fans. He’s nippy, but not that overly fast and poor kicking, no penetration in kicks & to date is not a great two way runner for a winger - though that may come when/if he builds up his endurance.
Pluses for him are very good hands & awareness in congested areas to create play. So that’s as you would say only an upgrade on Byrnes!
I’ve been to a couple of Freo games here in Perth can’t say that I noticed him that much for great skills. Flashes in & out, but goes missing for large parts of a game. Mainly I noticed his blond tipped hair stood out when he ran an oppo player down in a tackle - a la Dan Butler. He does appear have that knack of sneaking up on a player and sticking a tackle for a small player.
However, he’s young & maybe he needs a change of coaches to develop his game more, as long as his kicking skills are worked on. We have too many at the Saints who can’t hit targets under pressure IMO

Re: Liam Henry
Interesting perspective Loris.
I didn't really know him, but watching his highlights and the stats from his last few games, I reckon we can get a bit enthusiastic about him.
He might , just now, be getting his game together at the level.
He is certainly quick and has evasive skills and seems deft by foot and in the clips I've seen, isn't as soft as some have painted him (someone called him a soft version of Brad Hill)
He has been getting mid 20s disposals, so I reckon he could be a very good pick up.
Nice to be the nominated club.

I see Henry as a Brad Hill clone.

Gresham has just had his season exit meeting.
"St Kilda’s Jade Gresham has just wrapped up his exit meeting with Ross Lyon and other football staff.
There isn’t a contract offer on the table but he has been told the Saints would like to keep him."

Re: Liam Henry
I don't know why people bring up Adam Tomlinson. He's a 30 year old slow moving wingman who, when given a job as a key defender can't get the job done. As a defender, Dougall Howard is a far better player. Tomlinson's time is just about up.

Re: Liam Henry
Fremantle were reported in the press last week to seek either a late FRDP or early 2nd rounder for Liam Henry.
It's possible that Ross Lyon's connections with his former club will make this happen smoothly and within reasonable limits.
As for Henry's abilities, I consider him to have the potential of Melbourne's Kysaiah Pickett and Brisbane's Charlie Cameron - dynamic, speedie and with that rare X factor that can swing a game.
