Nope

Pretty sure I meant exodus

Which is a large number exiting - mass

Exit is actually a synonym for exodus - like departure

It is semantics - I’m standing by what I believe will be a huge number of changes

With 4 leaving by choice

2013 - 8 list changes
2014 - 8 list changes
2015 - 8 list changes
2016 - 9 list changes
2017 - 8 list changes
2018 - 8 list changes
2019 - 9 list changes
2020 - 9 list changes
2021 - 8 list changes
2022 - 7 list changes

8.2 average changes per year over the last decade. No massive change if we do have 10, really. Im not sure what the point of this thread was.

No massive ladder position changes either, well not till now, oh and the year of Covid.

The difference might be that the changes at the end of 2023 might be a majority of players who were actually regulars in the seniors as opposed to the last 3 years (see Otiman’s post above)

Just the OP, who likes Lyon as a coach but thinks coaches are overrated, wanting to give the impression that there is a 'mass revolt' amongst the playing group and there will be plenty of them leaving because they don't like the Club/Coach/Admin/Physio/Trainers/insert whatever role you like here.

A complete beat-up (IMHO) given that there's seemingly always 6-10 changes every year on all lists.
That's 6-10 players leaving (exiting as opposed to exodusing) the Club for a variety of reasons included being delisted by the Club, retitrng, being traded or seeking a better option (remember Luke Dunstan who's become a very good VFL player for Melbourne rather than a very good VFL player for us)

Did I use the term revolt?

Believe I said exodus - which = departures

Stop spinning it to a get BM thread with all your sook apologist chronies

Yes - I rate Lyon
No - I don’t think coaches determine success

I rate Clarko
Did he win Hawthorn 4 flags - no the players did
Clarko also missed the finals 7 times as Hawthorn’s coach
Was he a Bipolar coach?

And yes

Some Players can’t stand Ross Lyon

Is that hard to believe

David Armitage was NOT a fan, that I do know! And many other fringe or developing players are not Lyon fans

Fringe players and developing players probably still think coaches matter.

I have never known any fringe player or developing player to be enarmoured with their senior coach. Armo, for sure, had a reason to hold a grudge against Lyon after Ross rested 10 players in Tassie against reigning premiers Hawthorn and Armo was BOG in a brilliant win. He then had to watch on as Robert Eddy played in the finals. Likewise, Luke Dunstan v Brett Ratten. Luke polled 10 or 11 Brownlow votes in four games once he forced his way back into the team, only to be dropped a couple of weeks later when his form slipped. Who was right, who was wrong? I would suggest that Dunstan's form at Melbourne since he left us has been less than Stellar.

My main knock on Ross is he arrived back at the club and formed opinions on players he had not seen play or train at full tilt due to long term injuries. Two of them, I am told from a very good source (who works for a genuine ITK) are Billings and Membrey. Billings, I can understand to an extent. I imagine he is on very good money, but his output and injuries make him a questionable value proposition. The other is Membrey. A war-horse that has carried the forward line throughout his career and, this year, has been struck down by a knee injury. It has taken a few games for him to find his form but he showed his true value in contests against the Cats and, following two quarters when the ball rarely came into our forward line, booted three second-half goals on Saturday. Until recently i thought he had at least another three seasons left in him but from what I am hearing his knee may be worse than we believe. He deserves better than just having his papers stamped.

So, the fringe and developing players. Who has been knocking the door down at Sandy with form that demands selection? I hear crickets. The "developing" players are either still developing or might just have to be more patient. There is no easy road into the senior team and some just have to consistently prove themselves before they will be considered, not just a high possession game here and there. There is nothing wrong with spending a season or more in the so long as you continue to improve consistently. I am sure Michael Tuck and Dipper would agree with me.

Most of the squad drafted and traded in between 2010 and 2018 were either fringe players or just plain old average footballers, going through the motions and getting there stats and fantasy points up.

For someone who professes to not care about others opinions you continually arc up about opinions that differ from yours.
You’re no fool
You knew exactly what you were doing when you used the term exodus

And for what it’s worth, the last thing I would want is a ‘BM’ thread - the very last.
Your ego and sense of self-importance doesn’t need any more stroking
It’s so overinflated already I’m surprised you can keep your feet on the ground.

Maybe if you could bother to accept that others may have something relevant to say you wouldn’t come off as the arrogant know it all that you do.
But then again, you really don’t care about any opinion other than your own, as you’ve pointed out previously.

The image conjured is of Ross, staff in hand, parting the seas, leading the chosen club out of the wilderness into the promised land of a winning season and finals.
Luv that milk and honey.

gotta hand it to bm - catchy title. i would have written "perhaps more players will be moving come trade season than normal, not many, one or two perhaps. perhaps not". no clicks, no debate.
like being at school again reading bm's posts.

If I’m right and
Gresham, Clark, Billings and Paton ask for trades

And We field offers for Steele

Maybe I’ll revisit this thread?

And Magic

Goes to show you never can tell .
Gresham seemed really committed Saturday.
Clark was fierce and brave.
Paton knows Jimmy can't go on forever and he is versatile, particularly as taggers are back in vogue.
JB probably would have to take a haircut but where would he do better. If he goes hard preseason he could push Higgins.
I thought they might all stay.

Yeah but trolling with click bait headlines is hardly 11 pages of quality
I mean look at the tripe re Sharman you put up constantly
Anyhoo I enjoy Magics contribution
Calls it as he’s sees it and he’s got this one right
It’s a puff piece thread, based on zero inside knowledge and now dragging up history via David Armitage to justify players don’t like Lyon
Cause Mart doesn’t
He can’t say it cause the coach has come in…produced that “magic dust” Vort wanted …made finals …VINDICATED the decision to sack Brett
It burns 🥵

The first three have had plenty of time I think and they aren't class, proven or even reliable. Thanks for the cap relief.

We have already replaced Billings and Paton.

Yep. I won’t be devastated if those first 3 leave. They have contributed to a very average Saints team for awhile now. Time for the new and improved model

This version of Lyon seems a bit less stubborn and thankfully he's clearly ditched the four year apprenticeship philosophy. Sharman has worked his way into Lyon's good books which I don't think would have happened during Lyon's first stint. We persevered with Windy until his form came good and to an extent we've been carrying Phillipou all year to fast-track development but also challenging for finals - he wouldn't have played more than a few games under the old version of Lyon.

So I'm not really worried if a few guys in their mid twenties who haven't been able to perform consistently feel like they're not getting the same treatment as they used to and want out.

It's not about me, it's all about you.
You're the one who says he cares not about others' opinions.
Why then respond to my criticism of your thread title?

And btw, you'll know if/when I start sledging you. It won't be a secret. It will be plain for you to see/read.

Am I not allowed to defend my position?

I wrote a post, you felt the need to address it - I chose to retort

You got desperate and made it personal- typical

That’s basically what happened
