Perhaps they are all saving themselves for a big second half.

Can’t see Hunter becoming the Ross replacement we’re searching for.
Midfield always seems to miss him when he’s injured and no replacement, doesn’t seem like they’re keen on Windy in the guts

Re: Match Thread Saints v Lions Round 24 2023
I just don't see how you can say that. They've kicked 7 behinds from 55m + that is simply brain dead football. We can absolutely win this game if we just marginally improve our transition.shrodes wrote: ↑Sat 26 Aug 2023 6:45pmI’d kill to have even half of the shots they’ve had. Agree our defence has been a rock (as is most weeks)Brunswicksainter wrote: ↑Sat 26 Aug 2023 6:43pmDon't agree at all. Almost all of their behinds have come from taking brain dead set shots taken from unkickable positions. All credit to our defence who have been enormous.shrodes wrote: ↑Sat 26 Aug 2023 6:38pmOurs is worse, kicking straight to them constantly, no connection with forwardsBrunswicksainter wrote: ↑Sat 26 Aug 2023 6:32pm Brisbanes decision making in fwd 50 is terrible. We deserve to be in this game.

I don’t really rate him either, relies on stats too much to shape his opinions, then will change that opinion very quickly when it suits something else.
He was briefly an assistant at Richmond after retiring though.

Re: Match Thread Saints v Lions Round 24 2023
Forwards not getting a kick because it’s only been in there 15 times in a half!!!!
Cannot get the ball from front to back
Hill and Phillipou have been poor
Midfield poor
No bounce off HB
The few times we’ve gone i50 with a good look the last kick has been woeful
Gresham has been good
Wilkie good
Marshall pretty good
Wood ok
But not many winners

Re: Match Thread Saints v Lions Round 24 2023
We're dreadful. Lyon is actually being outcoached at his own game by Fagan: they have been fantastic at strangling the life out of us when we have the ball.
Only poor decision making and execution by the Lions when in attack has prevented us from being 50 points behind.
And the only shock trooper we have to shake things up in the second half is...Ryan Byrnes.
Oh and I suppose Jack Hayes: he's been almost invisible so far, so perhaps he can deliver a little bit in the second half.

Re: Match Thread Saints v Lions Round 24 2023
Greetings from a laundromat in Copenhagen!
Surely there can’t have been a realistic expectation we would win this one - so hopefully the floodgates don’t open and we don’t get injuries.
I am following the game only via the score updated on AFL website and the wonderfully insightful ( and some inciteful ) comments on this forum. Hopefully someone has the energy to start the voting thread .
Cheers everyone

Scores are level, who would have thought after that 1st Quarter.
How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?
