Right in the Bulldogs mess. I just don’t get it.

Isn't that story about 10 years old?
I don't think he's that good. His drafting wasn't much chop.

Yep never trusted him at the Saints. I'm glad he took his s*** to the Bulldogs.

Re: Ameet the Elite?
I genuinely can't fathom how he's been allowed to get so close to list management.
His expertise is financial services; how he's managed to morph beyond banking into the coalface of footy is one of more curious developments.
That said, we're still weighed down by Lethlean, so we've still go work to do.

Re: Ameet the Elite?
I recall a fair bit of fandom for Ameet on this forum back in the day, and quite a bit of disappointment from some when he departed for the Dogs.
As I recall, he was the deviser of the plan to maximise room in the cap so that we could go after some big names, only to find that the AFL chose that year to give every club an increase in its cap and most were consequently able to re-sign their star players who were threatening to leave.
I'm not sure if would be fair to blame Ameet for not having foreseen this, or whether it was just a bad break, or even whether it was yet another case of the AFL being deliberately out to get us.
Anyway, it sucked, like so much of our recent history.
To me, Ameet looks like a pretty smart guy. Is it reaally fair to accuse him of unwarranted interference in list management? My impression was that he would take the advice of the football experts and then go out and try to negotiate a good deal to get the players they wanted.

Re: Ameet the Elite?
If you believe that Bains was only balancing the books re player contracts you are mistaken.
Remember too that Bains was at St Kilda before Pelchen, was part of the team that hired Pelchen, and was still there after Pelchen left.
Bains was actively involved in our list strategy, and actively involved in who was let go, as well as who was brought in.
The third amigo was Elshaugh. These three were were key influencers of a disastrous recruiting and list management period at St Kilda. Elshaugh and Bains were both at St Kilda before Pelchen, and were both still doing damage after Pelchen had departed.
A former lawyer, Bains joined St Kilda ahead of the 2011 season and has played a major part in restructuring the club’s total player payment model and overseeing its recruiting.

The Westaway Presidency was a false capping on the Butters eruption and set us up for failure over a long period of time, a failure we are still stumbling over to recover from.
It's why club members should be more interested in the scaffolding between Lyon and the current presidency, the four pillars if you like.
The current sales pitch by Bassett was the latest coach change was necessary to set us up for long term sustained top 4 success, Geelong esque, however we won't really get a glimpse of how the club intend to achieve that goal until we wade through 2 or 3 trading periods with Lyon to get a feel for actions lining up with sales pitches.
What does "unfinished business really mean, will Lyon recruit old burnt out hacks to plug holes so he can frank his coaching career or will Lyon execute the recruiting strategy stated by Walsh during his very short stint in a pillars chair that was to focus on procurement mainly from the national draft.
Will Lyon also continue to "play the kids" in 2024 and beyond when he isn't forced to as a result of an injury crisis, or will he revert to being stubbornly anchored to playing a narrow nuclear from the list as he strives to fulfil his "unfinished business.
In a sense the "exploration" period for us members goes long beyond the first year of Lyons contract.
This sport is forever entertaining huh!

I’m not sure everyone understands the roles of
CEO
Coach
Footy Manager
COO
List manager
Recruiters
And the role they play putting together a playing list and managing a footy season?!
They seem to cross the lines of who does what?!

You seen very confused in believing that under Bains, and then Lethlean, that all of those roles were silos. They were were not.
