We're perfectly capable of beating Brisbane. Still playing for a home final, are running into really good form, its no time to put the cue in the rack.

Likely to be playing Sydney at home anyway.

Better off resting a couple of prime movers vs Brions and try and actually win the final.

I reckon Sharman and Pou should get a week off. Both looked sore.

I'd be giving Brad Hill a week off too.

Play RoMa for half his usual game minutes and same goes for Michito, Mason Wood, Terry Millera's boy, our 2 All Australian Jacks and the other Bradley

Trust the game plan and the system and structures and bring in some fresh players to bust their arse for the cause.

I can't see Lyon changing much- we don't want to go into the finals after a flogging in the last game

I would like to see Jack Hayes get a game before the finals. RoMa had it fairly easy on Saturday but that won't be the case this week. After Brad Hill, he is our most important player. I would rest both.

No one, unless carrying an injury or really sore that 2 weeks not playing will significantly help.

Reasons:
- Don't mess with Form;
- Week off before finals;
- Ideally want to give yourself the best chance at a home final.
- Have a real belief at the moment and sends a message that we don't believe we can beat Bris away. May not be good enough but players must believe that they can

Apart from injury as stated above would be if it was felt a player will be needed in the finals and benefit from a game - e.g. if say Coffield next cab off the rank and want to at least have some AFL game time if needed?

I think it will be no unforced changes.

Hayes, Coffield first cabs off rank if it’s necessary and structurally feasible.

Home final at stake and you want to take at least competitive form into the finals. Not that this year is really do-or-die imo. Stick to the process .

Don’t rest anyone unless they are injured. You don’t flirt with form. Most players like continuity, if you give them this week off they won’t have played for three weeks going into the final.
Our finals effectively begin this week as far as I’m concerned.

And if GWS win and go above us on % , how are you going to feel say playing them on their home ground rather than at the MCG just because we rested some players so that the Lions could have a greater winning margin?

Plus if we playa full strength team we could possibly knock off the Lions as their recent form has been ok rather than stellar. Pies were missing some key stars.

If we can't take it to Brisbane away, we won't be able to take it to Port in Adelaide either.

Expect an away final in week 2 (if we win).

Resting players for two weeks straight is more likely a disadvantage than an advantage.

The question "who do we rest" troubles me.

The Saints are on an upward spiral heading into the finals. Apart from Seb, we came out of Saturday night intact. Coops sprained his ankle but will be good to go. All players appear to be up an about. Why mess with a winning formula?

No chance, RL will treat every game like a final. We have been improving every game since some of our seniors have come back quarter by quarter we have improved and last Saturday we put together 4 quarters finaly... why would you want to stop that momentum?

Brad Hill is more important than Sinclair?
Hmmm not sure what matches you have been watching this year!

But I agree Marshall is maybe, with Sinclair, our most important

Fair comment, but I'm wondering if it would be prudent to leave Max King behind as he will be key to winning the elimination final.

I doubt the 2 week rest would have an adverse effect on his performance.

Jack Hayes having kicked 6 goals for Sandringham on the weekend could be worth a try as it will allow the selectors to assess his potential for the following games.

Another left field option for me is to drop Zaine Cordy, switch Tim Membrey to full-back, with the following forward lines:

Higgins-Caminiti-Butler

Gresham-Hayes-Owens

A bit radical, I know, but St Kilda rarely beat Brisbane at the Gabbatoir so may as well explore some alternatives....and make it more difficult for the Lions to work out how to deal with an unpredictable opponent.

I'm bloody glad I have enough confidence in the selection panel to only make the changes that are necessary.

The mistake will be keeping players happy by playing them in this upcoming game against Brisbane, versus doing the best thing for the team and the club's prospects in the first final

I wouldn't be trusting players with the decision. Personally, I would 'manage' 3-4 of my most important players... Take the decision out of their hands.

We have an experienced coach. He'll know what to do

I remember in 2015 (which was the year BEFORE the AFL introduced the pre-finals bye) when Ross dropped 11 of his best players for the last game of home and away.

It worked. They won their first qualifying final. Maybe this time around with the bye for all teams playing finals, he won't need to do what he did in 2015.

Well, RL has a history of resting players from memory but that doesn't mean he will do it this time. We'll see. One thing for sure is he won't be guided by supporters ideas, unless the selection committee, who have a lot more information available to them, happen to think the same.
