I just worked it out. This is part of a AFL strategy merger match . The Western Eagles is the new team. Bulldogs are deemed unviable and move west, really west.

Holy hell!
Even if Harley Reid doesn't want to go to Perth, I would have thought the Eagles would want the #1 pick for its trading value.
But perhaps they have someone other than Reid who they are perfectly happy to take.

Cripps was interviewed after the game on ABC radio. Interviewer asked him about the Saints and that he had helped their cause. She asked him if he had a soft spot for the Saints. Cripps replied that he loved the Saints as they had given them his start..
