I have a feeling ....
We make the eight ... just !
I think we can win the next 2. People forget how important Membrey is to this team. He played well last week and King has a game under his belt. Our midfield have had the blowtorch on them and we play at home.
I'll stay positive until the "plus size" lady sings.

I like your optimism and your reasons. I hope we make it too.
As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”

Might come down to how Jack Steele plays. I have a feeling he is playing sore/injured. And if Jack Higgins can get his set shot accuracy above 50%. I have a feeling he's got the yips. Feel for both.

I give us a 50% chance of making it. It could go either way.

Re: I have a feeling ....
If we lose all our remaining games we could finish 13th.
Winning just one of our last three means we could still make the 8
I've never seen such a huge cluster of teams at this stage of the season that can still make the 8

Re: I have a feeling ....
I am usually optimistic, but the reality is our form is very ordinary and unless we can do a complete lazarus I dont see us playing finals.
If we do I hope we can be competitive???

Re: I have a feeling ....
I don't trust feelings, neither my own nor other Saints fans.
Wishful thinking is fine but it won't help the team to win.
Wearing jocks inside out when St Kilda plays, as a friend does, is no certainty either.
Not daring to watch or conveniently absenting yourself from the live telecast is another ploy that won't guarantee a win.
With a couple of 8 point games coming up ii would be good to know if there's something else we can try.
Anyone got a fool proof remedy that they'd care to share???

Well, it depends on opportunities, Max has had one 'practice' match, lets see how the team lines up and where Max is positioned this week, and he can kick long goals when on song.

Re: I have a feeling ....
My thoughts are we won't win another game this year, making it a season like 2022.
Only this time it won't be the coaches fault, the list that Fred thought was a good list will be blamed and changes made, how many and who gets moved on will be
something to see.
I'm looking forward to the trade, draft ,delist part of the year, i'm more interested in that than watching the team wobble it's way through 3 more games.

How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?

Re: I have a feeling ....
I think we have controlled games a lot more this year, despite losing 40% of them so far.
If we get a settled forward line, and pick up a ready made midfielder-type from another club, we will go a lot further.

Re: I have a feeling ....
Ross has lost the players.
At 3qtr time, as the huddle dispersed, Steele had this look on his face that said 'I have no idea what we're doing'.
If he's confused, god help the rest of them.
He and Crouch had zero touches in the last.
Donut Kings.
Players have given up already.
Booked end of season trips.
Checked out mentally

Very sad but very true, unfortunately for us supporters, We are constantly fed hope by the club only to have it smashed on the rocks of reality.WellardSaint wrote: ↑Fri 11 Aug 2023 3:30amRoss has lost the players.

I agree but, if he's not playing sore or injured then it's been a Ollie Wines-like fall off a cliff

Re: I have a feeling ....
That's a fairly considered outlook. Largely agree. The funny thing - if we magically beat Richmond and Collingwood give the Cats a whack - we're likely to start favourites against Geelong.bobmurray wrote: ↑Thu 10 Aug 2023 7:41pm My thoughts are we won't win another game this year, making it a season like 2022.

My view is that Bassat saying the list should be achieving more than what it did wasn't necessarily wrong; but it was a bit of a smokescreen for really saying that Ratten wasn't getting the best out of a limited bunch.
I don't mind us finishing 13th and getting a decent pick and a mass cull of those who'll never make it - leaving a decent core to build around.

Re: I have a feeling ....
I don't reckon Steele has been fully switched on above the shoulders this season- maybe he doesn't work well under Lyon. Some players don't always respond to different coaching styles when there has been a change of coach, but others do. It may be that under Ratts, Steele was allowed a bit more space to play his natural game, but under Lyon he has to stick to a strict set of guidelines. It wouldn't be the first time in footy, not just AFL, that I've seen guys drop away when the coach changes??WellardSaint wrote: ↑Fri 11 Aug 2023 3:30amRoss has lost the players.

Re: I have a feeling ....
The crucial game is against Geelong. We can lose to Richmond and Brisbane but if we beat Geelong then we finish in the 8 provided the other games fall to who will be the favourites. Not really fanciful at all. Check out the ladder predictor.

To get plus size, get stuck into a Jumbo bag of Smiths Crisps.
Do they still make Straws? Remember them?
We'll be clutching one of those!
You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!
