Unloseable? That Geelong team is one of the greatest of all time? On what planet was that game UNLOSEABLE?
I remember talking to Ross the next day. I still remember his words. “ I can prepare and coach them to my upmost but I’m not the one who has to kick the ball between those two big sticks” We never lost that game because of him.

Have you ever watched the 2009 GF?

What was our inside 50 dominance in the first half? Did Lyon miss the shots on goal? Did Lyon kick it into the man on the mark kicking in after a point?
Games don't finish at half time or three quarter time if you hadn't noticed genius

The game plan sucked. The team selection sucked
Leaving Ball on the bench in the last sucked...want me to go on

I can fvcken play this game all day and all night
When the season was up for grabs (before we secured top spot) until about round 18 or 19. We were undefeated. Yes undefeated, our two H/A losses (by less than a kick) were dead rubbers to us. This with a team where the bottom 6 in our best 22 would not have got a game with most other teams. A list greatly diminished compared to the 2004/2005 List.

We should have been more than 5 goals up at half time, there would've been no coming back for Geelong, no matter how long Ball played. Then one goal would have got it done in the final quarter. Schneider and McQualter had straightforward opportunities and blew them and there were other opportunities.

Lyon set up the team to give it every chance of winning two Premierships, it was in the execution the team failed.

I suppose you blame Stan Alves for 1997?

I also think we lost at selection; we went too tall in the front half in my opinion.
Well that was a strength I thought we could exploit if things went our way but it probably assumed we would at least break even in the midfield. We got smashed and the rest is history.

I didn’t see Paddy Dow tearing us a new one but here we are.

Me either, but didn't we contain C. Curnow well.
Created a new rising star as well. Football was the winner.

I thought the first half vs Carlton was as good as we have played all year.
The 2nd half exposed the reality - that our midfield talent doesn’t run very deep at all and that overall , our talent is mid table at best.
With a bit of luck in the draft and some astute trading we can lock down a spot in the 8 next year.

Gee that Blake Acres looks like a finals capable player
He sure is Scollop, mind you, it's taken him 10 seasons,139 games and 3 clubs to realise his mooted potential. It remains to be seen if he can keep that sort of form up for the rest of this season.

I think he will. Prototype mid. Loves the physical stuff and has the body to handle it

It's Rowan's fault he played so well against us. RoMa muscled up and did the 'Hulk' thing to Blake and Blake responded

Agree, cooked! But I still have trouble believing they were the better side. The IP from Ball & Max was massive. Finally Collingwood had a defensive aspect after being a spaghetti sieve the years before.

They were legitimately the best team all year. We were up and down, on and off, and went on abit of a run at the right time, but make no mistake, Collingwood were the better team all season.

Yep but Ghost has a point …,
Think Ball/Hudgton greatly assisted Malthouse rip off Lyons IP
Anyhoo ….water/tears under the bridge now
09 was ours….we kick 3-4 of those very gettable goals …Cats wouldn’t have caught us …we didn’t

The coach blamed his players in 2009. He was wrong. Grand finals aren’t won and lost at half time.

You don’t earn silverware by being in front on the scoreboard BEFORE the final siren.

There’s no cups awarded for winning 19 home and away games in a row.

Riewoldt, Lenny, Dal Santo, Goddard, Joey, Fisher, Milne, Dempster, Kosi, Baker, Ball, Gilbert, Blake, Gardiner and Schneider had all played finals/prelims prior to Ross Lyon being appointed as senior coach of St Kilda in 2007.

The fact that they went again and made a Grand Final in 2010 was not a surprise. Ross did a good job but it wasn’t great.

Caminiti, Owens, Phillipou and NWM have Ll played major roles. 2 of them never played before. Who did they replace, Hayes, King, Membrey and we haven't had anything like NVM in a while.

What didn't change was the lock Steele, Crouch, Ross, and Marshall have had on stoppages. I'd be expecting some change in that department.

I expect Marshall Crouch Steele and Clark to start in the centre against Richmond...

I expect Sinclair to go in at stages to replace Clark, Crouch or Steele, as well as Gresh replacing Clark or Crouch, and Owens to ruck when RoMa is resting.

After a while I expect the 3 amigos ( Crouch, Steele and Ross) lining up again in their usual roles. They'll probably get more opportunities for certain bounce attendance than the rest.

Sometimes you have to do exploration over 22 matches, just in case you missed something in the first 20

Sometimes you have to do exploration over 22 matches, just in case you missed something in the first 20
They are and have been a very ordinary clearance team. They lock the ball in but can't clear it. Not sure what you're talking about. Are you?
