The real issue was Higgins butchering the easy over the top handball for an easy goal 10 seconds before.

So shrugging off a tackler and then getting tackled again and incorrectly disposed it is not holding the ball? Have you ever played AFL meher Baba?

Higgins might redeem himself a little in the second half, but surely one of Billings and Peris are knocking at the door for next week.

It was incorrect disposal since he chose to take on the second tackle. Clear free - not paid.

Unfortunately Higgins and Gresh again showing their shortcomings.

Got away with a few dodgy kicks across D50.

Steele only 6 touches, not good enough from the captain, needs to get into the game this second half.
You’re not at the ground are you? Steele is completely sacrificing himself to stop Cripps. And doing a fine job

I totally agree with you. But this year, presumably at the directive of the AFL, the umps have consistently taken the approach that, if the player ultimately disposes of the ball correctly, it doesn't matter what happens on the way there. Owens got away with a pretty similar sort of thing in the first quarter.

Mason Wood. Has the benefit of height and he's very good overhead. Hardly ever drops the footy when he's flying high and has both mits on it.

Great size for a wingman.

7 marks and as always working hard both ways. Has 16 disposals. 13 kicks ...BUT going at 37% disposal efficiency.

I still think he's one of our most important players. Hopefully he fixes up the turnovers

It’s a throw incorrect disposal. Clear free blatant cheating.

It was kind of a handball. That's all that players have to do nowadays. It was more of a handball than several others that were also waved play on: eg, one by Martin in Q2.

I have posted again and again about how much I hate the way the holding the ball rule is interpreted nowadays. But the current interpretation is what it is. And, if I had been umpiring under the current directive, I would have called play on for Butler's tackle.

Hopefully the decision might spark a bit of a debate about the way the rule is being interpreted at the moment. Of course a player shouldn't be allowed to break one tackle and then stand in the second one. But they are being allowed to do this.

His kicking is usually great, maybe just tired kicking from working hard two way running or swap the boots out at halftime

Loving the pressure we're bringing to every contest. Our work rate is phenomenal.

The exhaustion at times from running is definitely a factor. He also copped a heavy hit when he tackled Jack Martin

I don’t think Higgins is getting dropped. Leading goal kicker for us. Peris had a good games in the twos. Kicked two goals. Billings carry over emergency so no games for him.

Just want more of what we did in the 1st half and maybe a few free kicks properly interpreted our way.

Anyway, the team is performing excellently so far. Just need to keep it up for another two quarters.

A big pat on the back for Battle: he's having an excellent game.

Caminiti needs to hold his marks

Same with Sharman

Inside 50's are even. Our backline has to be the best in the AFL

Higgins just stood there as they walk it out of their backline. Pathetic.
