Would have to be paid to read Vortex.
For all the rest of us participants, I judge it to be a fairly even exchange of subjective ignorance, wise opinion, clever observation and hope. Some garbage (mea culpa) but we all can get emotional. I'd promise to read the adds.
I don't think it would be right/necessary to pay to be abused by Saynta. I'm pretty sure he would do that for free.

Re: Forum costs, maintenance and advertising
As someone who works in advertising I can't see significantly more revenue being raised via programmatic or direct advertising than what you would receive from donations etc.
With the exception of perhaps gambling/booze advertising.
Years ago- I think it'd have been of interest and in fact offered quite a large potential sponsorship myself- the sites a bit dated now and smaller.
That said if you do go down that path let me know and I can introduce you to a few people who might be able to help.

51 votes cast, gives you a bit of an idea of the sites very low traffic, most of those are on the pension so probably not much commercial potential.nostalgicsaint wrote: ↑Thu 03 Aug 2023 6:15pm As someone who works in advertising I can't see significantly more revenue being raised via programmatic or direct advertising than what you would receive from donations etc.

I’m happy to pay to be a mod for 24hrs ..that’s all I need..I know where to go..
After that you won’t have to worry about funding
The 6 of us left will just need to decide what we want to do next..

Good to see a thread about trying to keep the forum afloat and functioning has just devolved into the standard tit-for-tat about who people don't like.
And it is a surprise that site traffic is down?

Re: Forum costs, maintenance and advertising
The Flux Report has proudly had sponsors for a while now. Glad to see that ZZ is finally catching up with our pioneering innovation.
And in this spirit, after speaking to a couple of ex-AFL footballers, word is, long time ZZ forum favourite saynt Nosher Powell has agreed to come on board as the inaugural ZZ forum sponsor.
Onya Nosh!

Nick, you still haven't told us what contributions would be required to leave things as they are.

Re: Forum costs, maintenance and advertising
I hope we haven’t got another Simon on our hands, Simon was desperate to commercialise the site for some strange reason (insert sarcasm emoji).whiskers3614 wrote: ↑Wed 09 Aug 2023 2:32pmNick, you still haven't told us what contributions would be required to leave things as they are.
Yes N1ck was given the very clear message that he could raise the money needed without commercialising the site and he has been very sneaky in the way he framed the question for his vote.
Folks we’ve been down this road before with an individual and his hidden agenda and you will seriously regret a site with intrusive advertising and be spammed with adds to hook up with girls from Ukrain.
A little transparency would go a long way, many question have been asked of you N1ck in this thread and you have conveniently not answered them.
What’s the agenda?

Re: Forum costs, maintenance and advertising
The question is in aid of making a binary choice..
..any choice is going have collateral damage
..the talk (or non-talk i.e. not answering specific questions, deflecting, delaying, diluting etc.) is in aid of defending the binary choice and minimizing collateral damage

So far ‘ads’ is clearly winning.
Why?
I think because it’s easier. Some one doesn’t need to ‘deal with’ posters, collect their contributions, campaign every year like 3RRR in the 1980s and 90s !! Although I loved 3RRR!
When I tried to suggest we have a mental health sub forum , it was criticized and it was suggested to me that we already ARE a mental health forum.
Perhaps we could solicit ads from BigPharma only?
Or religious organizations?
