Interesting to see if he gets a one year contract.
I think RTB likes him.

Re: Zak Jones season over
Will we miss him ?
Will he back in 2024 or will he get the flick at season's end ?

How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?

Bad luck for Zak, very unfortunate, but going off what he’s done on field this year I’m happy to put a line thru him. Time to move on.

Zak from him this season.

Re: Zak Jones season over
It was a collision injury - could happen to any player
The whole injury prone commentary is rubbish wrt to players that have collision injuries- or any injuries for that matter
Most who spout it - probably never had a kick in anger
It’s an aggressive and violent ballistic contact sport - there is always casualties
Did you know Robert Harvey played less than 50% of games over a 4 year period
Then played another 6 years after the age of 31
Lenny Hayes missed two seasons with Recos
Jack Billings - apparently injury prone - played almost 150 games straight at one point!

Re: Zak Jones season over
If Zak was healthy he could offer significant support over & under...he fits that mid role, a bit of a David Armitage role...except Zak has burst speed.
His injuries, though some are contact, are no doubt linked. Ive read some interesting resources on USA NFL & MLB players regarding injury. In this study of injury, particularly knee, hamstring, shoulder injury...it suggests once a serious injury occurs the player is significantly more susceptible in contact events to injury.
It also stated multiple factors that seemed to almost argue away their research...a players dna, determination/mindset, committment to long term vs short term recovery, quality of medical facilities & intervention...all factored into a players reoccuring injury.
Regardless, hope we see him again healthy and slamming the hard body at full spees into some packs.
Get well mate.

His injuries, though some are contact, are no doubt linked...for a fact...well, maybe.

Injury prone is a real thing, especially soft tissue, especially calf and hammies.
I am worried that Cooper Sharman has been inducted into the foyer of the hall of hammy now actually.
Check your facts BM …it is real.. don’t know the physics of it, but they tell me it is scar tissue, tightening and compensating with other muscles and joints..loads bla bla…(now nevermind bout that jumbo jumbo, it is a real thang..)
Ask mR McKenzie..
And another real thing is that players can lose speed, leap, lateral twisting etc., after full recoveries.
Steve Waugh was a sharp medium-fast before his back went. Came back a plodder. A decent plodder, that is.
You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

What a crock of s***. Define 'almost played 150 games straight'.B.M wrote: ↑Tue 01 Aug 2023 8:22pm It was a collision injury - could happen to any player

To say Zac is injury prone makes sense when you consider how fearlessly he attacks the ball

Re: Zak Jones season over
Hopefully gets a one year extension.
He owes the club as he was on a pretty good contract and really hasnt performed up to that expectation.
Therefore if they can give him a chance to repay (eg minimal contract) as he could be very useful next year.
Saints need his aggression around the ball.

Re: Zak Jones season over
Between 2014-2021
Billings played 148 games
And some VFL games
1 injury interrupted season where he played 9 games (2015) 7 full seasons!
Overall played 90% of games

Re: Zak Jones season over
He played 85% of games. Didn't do a full pre-season until 2017 and only once in that time, did he play more than 12 games in a row.
As, a result, he looks quite broken now.
He should be in his prime, leading us to finals.
I'll let you continue with revisionist bulls*** and I hope he proves me wrong, but on the weekend, he looked like he was worried about kicking the ball and is playing quite differently.

I do like questioning the assumed storyline and hype and welcome that, and I especially note Robert Harvey’s story. But it definitely goes the other way, and sometimes it starts intruding by stealth, over a period of time. And of course, we can reach the absurd, such as Hannebury and trips to the doctor in Germany.
Tow balls injury this time might be purely incidental and have nothing to do with the fact that he is injury prone hammy or soft tissue wise. This can give an opportunity for those to advance an idea that it is a good time to shoot the messenger about how it’s a ‘thing’.
I am a Zac fan, and have vouched for him here when he’s been under fire. Our weak midfield assures me he should be given a chance again next year. No disrespect to Crouch who just played a blinder.
You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!

Re: Zak Jones season over
Van Ed has disappeared- without a comment
The has been no sight of him at training. Wasn’t on the injury list just stopped playing at Sandy
I thought he’d quit!

Re: Zak Jones season over
Yes, he's had an injury riddled couple of years, started by playing most of 2021? with a foot injury, a mistake which seems to be the base on his injury run.CQ SAINT wrote: ↑Wed 02 Aug 2023 12:09pmHe played 85% of games. However, in the 4 years 2017-2020 only missed one game. 2021 missed 4. Not exactly injury prone.
Is he now broken? Didn't look too broken to me last game, his class helped first quarter, nine disposals, gather and HB to Byrnes for kick to Wood - goal, shimmy forward then handball to Crouch - goal. Last quarter, again involved in Crouch goal and one other. Still got a sore thumb as well.
He is the type of player we are short of, class disposers, hopefully he can get his body right. Fully fit easily best 22.
