Re: Ross Lyon is #2
IIRC the Club had called a press conference to announce the re-signing. They thought that they’d done a deal with his management (Craig Kelly?) and Lyon had done deal with Freo (using a solicitor) behind the manager’s back because the manager was also representing Mark Harvey (incumbent Freo coach)

Thanks Tony
Voice of reason in amongst insanity on here at times
I’m with Magic…sometimes coming in here and reading so much nonsense 18 games in makes me wonder if this is a Pies site masquerading as a saints fan page…
We aren’t that good I agree but hopefully Ross and coaches kick over enough rocks to find some decent future kids
Sharman did well today
Peris not disgraced (has lightning speed as a POD)
Soon as we stop talking this finals rubbish the better
Focus on the long term
I’d measure Lyon end next year on how many genuine starting 18 regular players /kids he’s unearthed that will be the core of this side for next 7-8 years
Do that and results will follow

Or trying to sell the club to gullible supporters
Why are they on the right track?

Why aren’t we on track?
Did you think this side was top 4?
Have you seen no development of kids this year at all?
Shouldn’t that be the measure if we all acknowledge this list needs an overhaul and a midfielder or 3??

I've never stated in the last few weeks or since Ross was given the opportunity to coach us again, that I want him sacked. Don't make up shiitt
I was highlighting that tony74 was blaming assistant coaches last year and you wanted Ratts sacked
I'll say it again for the 10th time, I hope our board and footy department stick fat and we win our second premiership.

But after 18 games even you can see the stupidity in questioning a new coach year 1 off 10 years or mediocrity
Hang in there we’ll be ok

Re: Ross Lyon is #2
After-8 games (17actually) we are entitled to ask questions about selection of injured players in a year of exploration!
Lyon’s words and actions do not gel with each other.
Year of exploration and waiting for next pre-season but clearly hampered Wood and Steele continue to be selected rather than being told to go get themselves right for an early start to pre-season.

Exactly. RTB appears more concerned about protecting whatever reputation he has as a coach over the welfare of his players, and the team for that matter judging from his press conference.whiskers3614 wrote: ↑Sun 16 Jul 2023 6:52pm After-8 games (17actually) we are entitled to ask questions about selection of injured players in a year of exploration!

Re: Ross Lyon is #2
RTB had the whole pre-season to get their skills sorted.
I think you said he stepped away and let Lenny, Harves, Boris- conduct most of the training.
Is his 'pre-season' comment an admission that it wasn't done right?
How do skills fall in a hole this far into a season.
Our guys kicking straight to an oppo player.
Our guys handballing behind a team-mate. Zak had to stop and turn around, other guys had to stop and got caught or lost the ball entirely.
In junior footy, C Grade Ammos, we had to drop and do 10 pushups if we pulled that stuff at training.
YOU HANDBALL SO A GUY CAN RUN ONTO IT WITHOUT BREAKING STRIDE.
And handballing at a guy's bootlaces.
UNFORGIVEABLE.
A real Sainter will pledge allegiance to the ❤ and despise the Pies, the Blues, and the Injectors.

Re: Ross Lyon is #2
Why are we having to work on skills at the elite level?
We draft and list the best talent in the country- and they have poor skills?
I don’t buy that
You teach Game Plan to players that have skill at that level

I don't buy it either. something else is at play here.
Maybe they don't like the shitty negative game plan and the negative attitude of their coach which is becoming more obvious each week.
Here's a thought. Tell the players to go out and have fun, play their natural game and see what happens.Forget the f****** game plan that sees them scoring two goals in a half of football.
Maybe we will be surprised, and maybe not.

We are going nowhere fast with this list ,history has proven that no matter who the coaching group is.
