Re: Owens
Keep your pants on
I never said he was s***!
I rate him very highly for what he’s done so far
But he’s not the 2nd coming of Tony Lockett
Saints supporters go over the top about young player
Why
Because it’s the only bastion of hope we have to happy about our club
We individualise and always have - celebrating champions
But it’s team success that’s lacking

Re: Owens
None of the opening posters mentioned the word star, none of the opening posters compared him to DaicosB.M wrote: ↑Tue 11 Jul 2023 8:44pm Hmm
The comparison to Daicos was in reference to labelling Owens a star already. He may well be one day, but as it stands he is still getting there.
Daicos is an actual star - will win the Brownlow this season and is easily the best young player in the game - if not the best player.
All the opening few posters were doing was saying how much they enjoyed what he brings
YOU, BM bought up Daicos and the use of the word star
FFS let’s just enjoy what we have, and hopefully revel in the next 10 years of his play

I know we overrate our kids because we need hope.
But he’s got some improvement left to do if he’s to be an AFL player.
Doesn’t help that he’s being played out of position (forward) he is clearly an inside mid
His kicking is not good.
We love him because he’s a good size (Acres), but is he a good player?
Not as yet imo

Re: Owens
Mitch is good but no Seb
I think that’s the point being made
Jokes aside….he’s elite and a different player to Daicos
Oh and Brownlows only prove players are gun ball winning mids
Rest of the side’s positions don’t get a look
Midfielder award.

Says things he doesn't mean to get a bite, then can't remember saying them while continuing the narrative and injecting new venom at every possible opportunity.
We love him because he is amusing but does he know what he is talking about.
Best you ask him next week. He might change his mind.
Probably didn't rate him under Ratten but its amazing what a difference Lyon has made.

Re: Owens
Fair comment in Feb
Fair to say he’s exceeded expectations as a forward this year, which is great
Last year he only played 7 games and was well behind Windhager who had a much better debut season
Nasiah has also taken a massive step this season
I’ll repeat
He’s a great young talent - has been terrific
He won’t be in the AA squad or win the B&F but for a second year player that’s understandable.
The comparison to Daicos is because he’s an actual star of the comp and I think he’s a second year player too?

Re: Owens
Yes
That is obvious- he will certainly make it
And will be a good player - no doubt
But there is a bit of carry on - I think Nas has been equally as good and may end up better - if he stays

Re: Owens
Opinions on Windhager?
He showed alot last year, and has been quieter this year , although the last couple of games he seems to have his mojo back.
He spent alot of time in the twos, apparently to get to grips with Lyons structures and team rules,.
Interested to hear what folk think about his possible upside.

Yes, I wonder when that might be.Banger9798 wrote: ↑Mon 10 Jul 2023 10:47pm Owens is also playing out of position.
Let's see how he goes when he plays in the guts full time
I thought we might have seen a lot more of it by now.
Perhaps the decision is we need him more up forward for now, but I don’t know.
He’d probably still kick a few anyway playing as a full-time mid. He’s a natural goal-kicker and contested ball winner.
I hope so, too. He’s tough and he’s smart. Hopefully it’s just a matter of getting more games into him.Banger9798 wrote: ↑Mon 10 Jul 2023 10:47pm I think Windhager can be a really good player, I wouldn't be limiting him to a B grade ceiling
