It was a brave loss in respect to injuries.
But, Melbourne didn’t shift from third gear at any point during that game and they still never looked like losing.
Quality of our forward entries were hideous, turn overs from the back half almost as bad.
No injuries, would the result have been different? Probably, but we’ll never know.
My perspective, it was a poor game of footy and both teams were poor.
Agree.
It reminds me of our Perth game vs WCE, where we did just enough to get over the line.
The Dees, if they were on top of their game, should've won by 8 goald at least
A real Sainter will pledge allegiance to the ❤ and despise the Pies, the Blues, and the Injectors.

Hard to rate Melbourne on that performance, particularly as we only had 2 on the bench for most of the game.
Those elusive often imperceptible factors: bounce/ricochet of the ball and the half width of the goal posts seemed to go against us. And some umpiring calls/non calls. We played well enough to win a lot of games, but they were better with their bigger manpower resources.
After, I thought Melbourne about the third or fourth best side we have played. I'd rate BNE best, then Pies then Melbourne a puffteenth ahead of Port. Would be trying to weigh Port's excellent mids against Melbourne's excellent defence, hard to measure apples and oranges, both are ok. Given a level field and a share of the imperceptables I think we are capable of beating all but BNE. Unfortunately our stars have not aligned often this season. Maybe against Essendon early.
