Bad luck for the big fella.

Hasn’t been hitting the scoreboard much in recent matches but he’s at least been a target and provided structure, which we’ll miss.

Agreed though, his body conditioning needs a lot of work, as does his ability to hold marks. Still a bit too easy to defend against in a one on ones, so needs to work on that also.

What a week for the Kings.

Ben dragged after one possession
Max goneski

Can i be honest?

I was partly and strangely relieved when Max went off....

Then I was quickly set straight seeing the bloody gorilla taking mark after mark

Not knocking Max, but i felt he was out of form, and that we were not working well with him and I was still hoping for the miracles of early season...maybe Cordy kicks 10!

Feel sorry for King.
No point playing him more this year, he needs to have a massive off season and preseason.
The kid can play and will get better and better as his body develops.

Hayes playing for Sandy in the Ruck. Would be handy at HF too. Could be much more effective than King and more complimentary to Marshall in the current structure.

Let's hope he can be super fit come round 1 next year.
Speaking of Sandy, saw Hunter Clark burst out of a pack which was good to see.

Nursing injury-prone marquee players is a drag.

Can't blame King himself but our great white hope is looking a little dubious.

His brother also isn't living up to the hype.

Very depressing.

Winx, the racehorse didn't succumb to injury like Max has in his short AFL career so far.

Who ever it was that branded this bloke with the nickname 'Winx' before he actually achieved anything was a goose

Winx only had a paddock injury prior to her first competitive races and was never injured during her Group 1 winning streak

This sucks, what a wasted year for Max.

Has it been confirmed this is connected with his shoulder injury from the preseason, or just bad luck?

Our lawyers suck, our surgeons suck, the bounce of the footy sucks, and our footy admin and boards over the last 15 years suck....jury still out on this current lot .

And... Not Forgetting the fish (Trout especially) who were involved in our list management prior to Libba and Toce...they definitely sucked big time.

Actually, Trout was a fish, but the other guy wasn't. I'm mixing pilchards with pelicans

Looking at the way Max King has been playing since he returned from his shoulder reconstruction it appeared to me that he was only firing on maybe 4 of his 8 cylinders, perhaps he lacked confidence and worried that he'd do his shoulder again, a fear that materialised tragically last night!

Both King twins have underdeveloped bodies, for example, they're both 202cm with Ben weighing 98kgs to Max 94. Compare this to Rhys Stanley (how we could do with him right now!) who is 200cm and weighs 102kg and he's not at all bulked up like his team mate Tom Hawkins (198 cm, 104 kg).

In last night's game he was lined up against Steven May who is only 193 cm but weighs 101 kg and when he hits the pack in marking contests he has much greater physical strength. I think any mortal would be a bit worried about bracing for an impact with a rampant May charging at you!

Max is like watching a spagetti man run around, he is very lose limbed. I know the game requires players to cover more ground now, but Max needs to add 15kgs of muscle to his frame to protect himself from future issues. Didn't Lyon challenge our entire list to drop weight and improve their running. I would rather see the players remain stronger and hold the positions in the contests. I guess its a fine balancing act?

He’s 100kgs already! You want to give him the mobility of Billy Longer while cutting his gas tank 😆

Max and Ben should go play basketball rather than AFL.
Their bodies were perfectly fine in under-19s because they weren't playing against bulky hardened men.

They're not suited to AFL at all

It's an interesting point.

Plugger was a KFC-eating colossus.

Would he be suited for the modern game?

Good player. At this rate, he’s looking like a Lethlean Hannebery special. He did overrule the Recruiment team.

Then Max King over Connor Rozee or Bailey Smith.

Goal-kicking midfielders over big men, any day.

1 Petracca > 10 McCartins + 2 Kings.

We'd be better off using the free version of chatbox gpt to do our recruiting from now on.

I’d take Max King any day of the week and twice on Sunday

I would’ve taken him if I had pick 1

And Ben at pick 3 or 4

You DO NOT take injuries into account at 18yo
Judd, Selwood!!!!
Kids get over injuries

I don’t think you guys get it
Injuries can happen in AFL
It’s a ballistic contact sport, where athletes push themselves to extreme limits!!!!

You can’t forecast injuries
Robert Harvey did a knee
Lenny Hayes knee x 2
BJ Goddard Knee
Plugger a number of injuries and suspensions in his prime

You cannot predict injuries therefore you don’t take it into account when drafting (trading yes)

Max and Ben King are athletic 202cm kpps they don’t grow on trees

Max will be a top 5 player in the AFL at 25yo
Ben will be top 10

One of them will be the next player to kick 100

WOW B.M, I don't know what you've put in your tea but I want some. Excellent post & defence of Max. I for one hope your tea leaf predictions come true.

The poor bugger needs a good run at it, as does Clark, as does Coffield. My fingers are crossed all three remain at the Club and be a part of our next flag tilt.

Hopefully by the time Max is back playing AFL, those charged with moving the ball into our F50 are better skilled and better drilled. The same goes for Max and his forwards, they run better patterns, get separation from their opponents and lead to different spots. Even if that's a selfless, unrewarded lead.
